Are electric cars really bad for the environment?
Some German politicians are calling for a delay to the EU plan to phase out gas-powered vehicles, saying cars must be judged on the entire carbon footprint. "The EU's car lie" — Germany's Bild tabloid newspaper didn't mince words when it reported on what it called the European Union's "dangerous" claim that electric vehicles were carbon neutral. Hybrid vehicles, meanwhile, which combine a combustion engine with an electric motor and battery charged by the car's brakes and an internal generator, generate fewer emissions than traditional cars, but still don't match fully electric vehicles. While electric cars don't produce emissions during driving, they can generate them indirectly when charged using electricity produced by burning fossil fuels like coal and gas.

Russia and Ukraine exchange strikes as two killed at Moldova border
Two people died when Russian drones hit a border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said. In Russia, officials said four people, including a child, were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, while a drone hit an industrial facility in the Arctic city of Novy Urengoy. Russia and Ukraine recently stepped up long-range strikes, despite renewed diplomatic efforts to end the war. The crossing, about 500km (310 miles) south of Kyiv, was shut after the attack killed two people and injured three others, Odesa regional head Oleh Kiper said. Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Watch: Norway bids farewell to King Harald
Tributes have been paid to King Harald V after his funeral in Norway's capital Oslo, with the Prince of Wales and other European royals among attendees. Flags were raised from half-mast to mark the conclusion of a private ceremony at Akershus Fortress, where the king was laid to rest in the crypt of the Palace Chapel after a public service at Oslo Cathedral. Tens of thousands of people lined the streets to pay their respects after 13 days of national mourning. The new king Haakon VIII - Harald's son - and his family stood on the balcony of the Royal Palace and waved to thousands of people gathered outside. The late monarch died in August after 35 years on the throne.

That was one of the reasons that motivated him to make "Letters from the Silenced Country." In one scene of "Letters from the Silenced Country," Ostapovich is asked if, after everything he's been through and witnessed, he still believes in a free Belarus. There have been struggles to free the country ever since: "So from this long-term perspective, there is a lot of hope."

Why we're still looking for dark matter
The team, based in South Dakota in the United States, said the event resembled what they think a dark matter particle should produce when it collides with liquid xenon, one of a range of materials used for detecting dark matter. They stopped short of calling it the discovery, or proof of dark matter, that many in the field have been hunting for almost 100 years. The term "dark matter" was coined by physicist Fritz Zwicky in 1933 as a means to describe unseen matter that would explain fast-moving galaxies. Dark matter accounts for about 27%, and dark energy, a separate force linked to the accelerating expansion of the universe, about 68%. The strongest evidence that dark matter exists comes from the so-called Bullet Cluster, which formed when two galaxy clusters collided.
