Man and woman arrested after almost €36,000 of heroin seized in Galway
Michael BoltonA man and women have been arrested after approximately €36,000 worth of heroin was seized in Galway on Wednesday. This comes after a car was stopped by the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit at Cappataggle, Co Galway, at around 11pm. In excess of 252 grams of heroin (with an estimated street value of €35,700, subject to analysis) was seized and a man and a woman, both aged in their 50s, were arrested. They are both being held in a Garda station in Galway, and can be held for up to seven days.

Vinted to enter Ireland's 'immature' second-hand clothing market
Second-hand selling platform Vinted launched in Ireland this week, with the company’s chief executive Thomas Plantenga expressing confidence in the company’s ability to become a leading player in the growing market. Speaking to the Irish Examiner at this year’s Web Summit in Lisbon, the CEO said they looked “very carefully” at Ireland, noting the online second-hand market was “very immature at this point”. Vinted’s expansion into Ireland marks its 23rd global location, with most of Europe now already conquered by the growing second-hand platform. “Sometimes we try a new market and it doesn’t work,” Mr Plantenga said. “The more people that use Vinted, the lower the average order value becomes and the faster people start selling.

Heroin seized and two arrested in County Galway
As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the region, Gardaí in County Galway have seized approximately €36,000 worth of heroin. A car was stopped by the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit at Cappataggle, County Galway, at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13th. In excess of 252 grams of heroin (with an estimated street value of €35,700, subject to analysis) was seized and a man and a woman (both aged in their 50s) were arrested. They are currently being detained at a Garda station in County Galway under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. They can be held for up to seven days.
