Harry Kane makes Bundesliga history after fourth hat-trick in Bayern’s huge winBy PA Sport StaffEngland captain Harry Kane made Bundesliga history as he became the first man to score four hat-tricks in a debut season as Bayern Munich routed lowly Mainz 8-1. Faride Alidou put the visitors in front after just seven minutes and then restored their advantage after Franck Honorat had levelled. Thomas Isherwood’s own goal and a second from Christoph Baumgartner handed RB Leipzig a 2-0 win over rock-bottom Darmstadt, while Jeffrey Gouweleeuw’s first-half strike was enough to hand Augsburg a 1-0 win over Heidenheim. Portu’s sweet first-half strike and a deft toe-poke from Savio sealed a 2-0 victory at the Municipal de Montilivi Stadium in which Michel’s men created enough chances to have won far more comfortably. Real Sociedad needed a late goal from Andre Silva to maintain their bid for a top-six finish with a 3-2 win at Granada.

“The result of the referendums on family and care is clear,” Mr Martin said in a statement. ________________________________________________The Taoiseach has acknowledged the family and care referendums have been comprehensively defeated. It was our responsibility to convince a majority of people to vote yes, and we clearly failed to do so. “I would have preferred a yes yes. It says the changes will remove sexist language, recognise family care and extend protection to families not based on marriage.

After Scotland’s shock loss to Italy, Ireland knew victory would give them the title with a round to spare and set them up for back to back Grand Slams. They looked on course with a 12-8 half-time lead via four Jack Crowley penalties despite England scoring the only try through Ollie Lawrence. A second Lowe try put Ireland back in front, only for replacement fly-half Smith to send Twickenham wild at the death. Ireland have 16 points, with England, who visit France next week, second on 12.

Guardiola’s selection for the midweek Champions League stroll against FC Copenhagen, in which he made seven changes, suggested he had an eye on Anfield. Research has found no definitive link between social media use and mental health or social problems in later life, according to a US expert after an extensive analysis of Irish data. He said he found no discernible link between the use of social media among Irish youths and adult mental health issues. He published his findings in ‘Longitudinal Associations Between Social Media Use and Mental Health Outcomes in Sample of Irish Youth’. “The study shows that if there is a problem with social media and mental health later on, then we don’t know about it,” said Professor Ferguson. “In the US they want to ban social media usage in certain stages, while in the UK it’s a discussion too.

Virgil van Dijk has plenty of Man City ‘options’ to worry about – Jurgen KloppBy Rory Dollard, PAJurgen Klopp insists Liverpool cannot pin all of their hopes on Virgil van Dijk shutting down Erling Haaland when the title rivals Manchester City visit Anfield. Erling Haaland and Virgil van Dijk clash again on Sunday (Joe Giddens/PA) Photo by Joe GiddensBut when it comes to City, Klopp believes there is too much quality and too many alternate options to rely on an old-fashioned man-marking exercise. If Haaland is not scoring that is good but they have other options to do that,” he said. “If Virgil van Dijk would be able to nullify Haaland then (Phil) Foden fires the ball in from 30 yards into the far corner, or Kevin De Bruyne does exactly the same, or Rodri is arriving, or Bernardo Silva is doing it. We knew he is a real talent, we knew he has massive strength, especially on the ball, stuff like this.
