The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert covering large parts of the country, warning residents to brace for potential floods from Saturday, February 21, to Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Heavy rainfall can cause sudden flooding even in areas that might not have experienced significant rain, so preparedness is critical," Kenya Met Acting Managing Director Edward Muriuki said in a statement. Residents in Nairobi and surrounding counties are reminded to monitor updates from KMD through its website, WhatsApp channel, and FASTA-Ken platform. It emphasised that although the probability of heavy rainfall is moderate (33%–66% chance), the impact could be significant in flood-prone regions. Kenya has in the past experienced severe flooding following heavy rainfall, causing loss of life, property destruction, and disruption of transport networks.

“Essentially, the accused is not beyond reform and therefore the death sentence is not merited.”The court was unmoved. The moment that drew attentionAfter pronouncing the death sentence, Justice Magare broke his pen, a rare gesture in Kenyan courts. Instead, it is a centuries-old judicial tradition used in some jurisdictions after delivering a death sentence. In medieval and early modern Europe, particularly in Germany, France and parts of Eastern Europe, judges presiding over capital cases would break a quill after pronouncing a death sentence. “A death sentence is the most serious order a court can make.”Despite its symbolism, the broken pen does not end the legal process.

The legal fight between model Haley Kalil and former NFL lineman Matt Kalil just added another twist, and this one centers on a simple claim: she says she never actually said his name. The filing pushes back against his lawsuit by pointing out that, while viewers may have made assumptions, she never directly named him when making the comments that later went viral. Haley’s legal team is challenging that logic, leaning on the idea that implication is not the same as identification. “Deadass… for our whole marriage,” she said at one point, explaining that they explored multiple options to fix the issue. Since retiring from the NFL, Matt has largely stayed out of the spotlight—a point his lawsuit emphasizes.

According to the President, Kenya had been forced into external borrowing largely because of a weak savings culture, noting that the country’s low domestic savings continue to expose it to costly foreign debt. “The reason why we roam capitals of other countries to borrow money is because we have refused to save our own money,” Ruto said during the County Assemblies Forum in Nairobi. “The money we borrow from China is the savings of the Chinese people. We had to go and tell them, this debt is too heavy, reduce the pressure because it is hurting us,” he said. Ruto questioned why the country should subject itself to such situations when it has the capacity to mobilise its own resources, pointing to stronger domestic savings frameworks in neighbouring countries.

In its ruling, the Commission found that the image did not breach the Code of Conduct for Media Practice and dismissed the complaint lodged by Nico Otieno Nissen Magather. Media outlets can use illustrative photographs taken in public places for stories of public interest, without needing prior consent, provided no individual is unfairly identified or misrepresented. In its ruling, the Commission found that the image did not breach the Code of Conduct for Media Practice and dismissed the complaint lodged by Nico Otieno Nissen Magather. The Commission considered three key issues: whether publication without consent breached the Code; whether the image and caption constituted misleading or unfair presentation; and whether the publication violated the complainant’s right to privacy and dignity. "Finding no breach of the relevant provisions, the Commission concluded that the complaint lacked merit and dismissed it entirely," the Commission ruled.
