New Mexico probes allegation of bodies buried near Epstein ranchNew Mexico’s Department of Justice said on Wednesday the state was investigating an allegation, which emerged from documents released by the US Department of Justice, that the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein ordered the bodies of two foreign girls buried outside his remote New Mexico ranch. New Mexico Department of Justice spokesperson Lauren Rodriguez said it had requested from the US Justice Department an unredacted copy of an email in 2019 containing the allegation. The US Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In an interview on Wednesday, New Mexico State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard said her office had found the redacted email during a recent search of the latest Epstein file release. Garcia Richard, in a February 10 letter to the US Justice Department and a statement, called on federal and state justice officials to fully investigate allegations of criminality on Epstein’s ranch and state lands adjacent to it.

The High Court of Kenya has ordered the government to pay Sh102.5 million in compensation to 41 judges who were subjected to what the court described as an unconstitutional delay in their appointment. The court held that the affected judges were left in a state of uncertainty that caused professional, reputational and psychological harm. As a remedy, the court ordered the State to pay a total of Sh102.5 million in general damages, awarding Sh2.5 million to each of the 41 judges. He described the compensation as vindicatory, aimed at affirming the importance of constitutional rights and deterring future violations, rather than punishing the state. However, the court declined to award exemplary or punitive damages, finding that constitutional compensation is not meant to be penal in nature.

Under the plan, MCAs would contribute 7.5 per cent of their salary, with the government matching the amount. “The same way Members of Parliament contribute 7.5 per cent of their salary, you will contribute 7.5 per cent of your salary. The employer in government will also contribute 7.5 per cent as well.
