Monrovia – At long last, over 2,000 volunteers, who have worked as active case finders and risk communicators, have begun receiving compensation for work done during the start of the coronavirus pandemic in Liberia. Speaking at the start of the payment exercise, the Executive Director of the Liberia Crusaders Madam Judi Endee appreciated the workers for volunteering their service to the nation. This is your country and you did a good job and so, we congratulate you,” Madam Endee said. Also, for the two months, volunteers will receive US$120 in its Liberian dollar equivalent, according to Madam Endee, who added that the remaining one-month payment will be made to volunteers at a different date. Monrovia – Some 20 self-sponsored Liberian students in India have complained about being stranded in the Asian nation and have made an SOS call to the government to help them return home. Alex Mulbah, the spokesman for the stranded Liberian students, said there are more students who want to come back to Liberia but only 20 of them are currently financially prepared to return home. According to him, returning to Liberia is something they have long awaited, but they do not want to use the Ivory Coast route, considering the risk they might encounter. “We will be spending over thousands of dollars to get to Ivory Coast, and we do not know how long it will take us to leave Ivory Coast, and Ivory Coast is not safe also,” he said. “While if we will spend two or three days, we do not know the expenses ahead of us.”“Since the Ebola crisis, we have been stranded.

The equipment and office tools donated to the Gender Ministry are worth US$13,944 and include four desktop computers, two printers, and fourteen pieces of furniture. Gender and Social Inclusion is a major cross cutting component of all MCA-L activities. After the equipment was installed, Lawodo Nimley Thomas, Gender Unit Director, MGCSP, expressed appreciation to MCA-L for the tangible support given the Ministry in promoting gender and social inclusion while spurring economic growth. Monrovia – Four teachers at the Light International School, a school operated by Turkish nationals, in Sinkor are expected to be served dismissal letters by the school’s administration for requesting what they termed as “just benefits and salaries”. All schools including the Light International School System were closed. Teachers at the Light International School System said they were not paid their salaries or given any compensation during those months – when the school was closed. The aggrieved teachers named themselves “Concerned Workers of the Light International School System” on May 9, 2020 met with the school administration. Togba said after that meeting, teachers did not get any notification from the school’s administration about their salary.
