Monrovia – Labor Minister Moses Kollie has pleaded with the US Government to help Liberia improves its capacity to completely stop child labor and human trafficking in the country. “This government under the leadership of President Weah has developed special interest in stepping up the fight against trafficking-in-persons and today the administration has proven its preparedness,” Minister Kollie averred. In the latest human trafficking report by the US State Department, Liberia moves to Tier 2 after being the Tier 2 watch list for more than three years. She promised to continue working with the Ministry of Labor to ensure more awareness against human trafficking and child labor to sustain the gains. Madam Grunder furthered that the US government is willing to support Liberia in the training of law enforcement personnel, advising prosecutors and working with the Ministry of Labor to stop child labor.

Prior to the supervisory role prescription, the International Insurance Company of Liberia Limited was a major asset of the First International Bank, the Central Bank dissolved the International Insurance Company of Liberia limited Board of Directors, dismissed the Managing Director and appointed an acting Managing Director. The CBL decision is in keeping with section 11.4 of the New Insurance Act of Liberia and appoints the petitioner CBL as liquidator pursuant to the notice dated June 15, 2017, concerning the International Insurance Company of Liberia (IICL).

Monrovia – Liberia Private Sector Executive Committee (LIPSEC) has launched the first “Web Portal” which aims at showing accountability and transparency for donations that the government will receive from donors during the coronavirus crisis. The web portal is going to track donations that would be giving to the government by development partners to help eradicate the coronavirus out of Liberia. Monrovia – The U.S. Embassy in Liberia is proud to support Liberia’s response to the COVID- 19 pandemic. As a part of our assistance to Liberia’s civilian security agencies and Ministry of Justice, the U.S. State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) provided personal protective equipment (PPE), including locally-procured N-95 and other disposable face masks, full-body disposable personal protective suits, alcohol-based sanitizing gel, and disposable medical-grade rubber gloves to the Liberian Joint Security Task Force. This support will protect security officials who engage with the public and are assigned to quarantine centers and hospitals as they respond to the COVID-19 health emergency that has spread globally. INL also donated 40 megaphones, protective covers, and spare batteries to the Liberia National Police, the Liberia Immigration Service, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Liberia National Fire Service to support their efforts to inform citizens about the health risks of COVID-19 and best practices to stay safe, and to strengthen the ability of security agencies to communicate with the public. The PPE and communications items, which are valued at $10,000, were procured through INL’s implementing partner Integrated Justice Systems International (IJSI).
