Liberia: AME University Alumni Association Recuses 500 Stranded Students with Internet Data Package For Online Classes
On Tuesday, June 23 the AME University Alumni Association (AMEUAA) delivered a sum of US$500 to the graduating class for the purchase of internet data package to enable 500 students write their final exams. At first, the students rallied L$30,000 which they used to purchase internet data, but that amount of data was insufficient to serve the number of students. Woods added that it was the Alumni Association that has come to their rescue following several appeals. So, we are going to make an intervention of $500 United States dollars toward the data package,” he said. In order to transform the Association, Delamy has led the leadership to opening its office on the university campus.

Curtailing the Criminal Use of Shell Companies in Liberia
The pervasive use of shell companies, front companies, nominees, or other means to conceal the true beneficial owners of assets are contributors to illicit financing activities. While shell companies are used for legal purposes, there has been a pervasive use of shell companies for criminal activities in Liberia for an exceptionally long time, as the NCA’s May 19, 2020 article reveals. Some of the criminal uses of shell companies in Liberia include, but not limited to, the following: 1) Foreigners residing outside of Liberia set up shell companies in Liberia to channel millions of dollars through Liberia to finance terrorist activities in other countries. 2) Foreigners residing outside of Liberia set up shell companies in Liberia to channel millions of dollars of illegally acquired funds through Liberia to other destinations. Measures that could reduce and deter the criminal use of shell companies in Liberia include, but not limited to the following: a) Comprehensive investigation over the use of shell companies.

Liberia: Six ‘Public Order Violators’ Arrested After Violent Spree, Traffic Disruption

MONROVIA – Several Civil Society Organizations have presented to the Ministry of Finance a “Shadow” Budget Option Paper. The first development policy analyzed is the next five-year National Development Plan, the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) 2018-2023. The second development policy analyzed is the 5-Year Education Sector Plan, Getting to Best Education Sector Plan 2017-2021. The Education Sector Plan set an ambitious commitment for Liberia and defined key strategic goals to achieve over the five-year period. The last development policy analyzed is the 7-year Health Sector Plan, Investment Plan for Building a Resilient Health System in Liberia 2015-2021.

Liberia: Boy, 13, Suffering Severe Health Complication Cries for Treatment Abroad
Paynesville – Thirteen-year-old Vargah Flomo is living with a complicated health problem. His mother, Massa Kamara, recalled that he was immediately rushed at the JFK Hospital by people on the scene. The surgery at the MSF Hospital showed some greenlight, but doctors there were unable to make him urinate freely. But Flomo’s parents do not have the means of taking him out of Liberia for treatment and are calling from assistance from goodwill individuals in and out of Liberia.
