The deceased died at his residence on the morning of June 2, 2020 following a protracted illness, family told FrontPageAfrica. Report by Selma Lomax, [email protected]The county health officer, Dr. Adolphus Yeiah, told a media briefing Thursday that specimen of the deceased sent to the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) on June 2 came back positive. Circumstances surrounding the confirmation of COVID-19 of the deceased seem not to have convinced many residents of Bong County that COVID-19 is real and in the county. Speaking to FrontPage Africa Friday, Bong County superintendent Esther Walker, said, “I plead with residents of the county and other journalists in the county to assist the county and the county health team deal with the issue of prejudice even among residents”. Monrovia – Authorities at the Roberts International Airport have been meeting with stakeholders, both local and international to explore the possibility of reopening the Roberts International Airport to commercial flights. The new concept is drafted in in keeping with an advisory from the Airport Council International and the National Public Health Institute. The new regulations include a mandatory public health concept for travelers with technology aided screening, testing and quarantine procedure. Bishop Klayee said in the next few days the public will be informed about a tentative date for the reopening of the airport and resumption of flights. The discussions over the possible tentative date for reopening comes as Liberia continues to record mass number of recoveries from the deadly Coronavirus.

Paynesville – A 23-year-old man, identified as Melvin Zarwolo has died after being stabbed multiple times allegedly by his sister following a row over a bucket used to fetch water. The father of the deceased, Akoi Jallah told FrontPageAfrica that he received a call from his little brother on Wednesday, informing him about the fatal death of his son at the hands of his sister. Kakata – The Liberian Government quest for a speedy trial in the German national murder case at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County has been dealt a blow due to the court deferment of the trial for the next Term of Court. She revealed that the Supreme Court had advised Judges that if any party requests for a jury trial during this period of COVID-19, that matter should be deferred to the next Term of Court. “Section 20.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia which says right to trial by jury, a defendant should be accorded the right to jury trial except for petty offence, but this is a murder trial. The court do here grant the defense lawyer motion for jury trial and the case differed to the next Term of Court and hereby so order,” Judge Tarr-Chenoweth ruled. Wesseh A. Wesseh, Assistant Justice Minister for Litigation, took no objection to the defense’s motion for jury trial.
