The National Christian Task Force of Liberia is a conglomeration of different churches. Pastor Forh posted with the video: “God is calling Liberia to a place of remembrance and restoration. According to Benitoe, as watchmen on the walls of Liberia, the National Christian Task Force of Liberia has carefully and prayerfully reviewed the prophecy from pastor Forh and found that it is not from God. Benitoe also called on the Christian community, the government and people of Liberia to ignore the “so-called clarion call for a 40-day national fast”.

Liberia: Labor Minister Kollie Urges Firestone To Abandon Plan To Lay-off 374 Workers
Minister Kollie said that it is seemingly unfortunate to see Firestone dismissed employees in the face of the rampaging COVID-19 pandemic that has negatively plummeted the economy. Minister Kollie said that because the company has not given proper clarification, Firestone is in violation of section 31. Minister Kollie, however, revealed that the government still has opportunity for dialogue to find an alternative to the termination of workers. “Therefore, we cannot provide the guardian that the management firestone needs to affect the redundancy. Expect it is properly clarified,” Minister Kollie said.

Liberia: Senate Secretary Singbeh Tells Court Joint Resolution Approved Printing of L$5 Billion
Monrovia – Senate Secretary Nanborlor Singbeh, one of the state witnesses in the ongoing trial of four former officials of the Central Bank of Liberia, has testified that a joint resolution was passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives for the printing of the first L$5 billion. Singbeh, the third state witness in the trial, on June 9 said that the resolution from the House of Representatives was adopted under the code 001/2016 while the Senate resolution was also adopted under the code 002. “The printing or authorization of the first 5 billion Liberian Dollars banknotes was made as far back as four years, from my recollection,” he said. On the question of whether there was any joint resolution by the House and Senate in respect to the replacement of the Liberian Dollars legacy bank notes, he said no. Following Singbeh’s testimony, the court adjourned the trial involving the former officials of CBL to Friday, June 10.

U.S. Embassy Monrovia Supports Liberian County Security Council Responses to COVID-19 Pandemic
Monrovia – The U.S. Embassy in Liberia is proud to support Liberia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through INL’s Mitigating Local Disputes in Liberia (MLDL) program, INL sponsored a variety of radio programs nationwide and established handwashing and body temperature stations at border crossings and checkpoints in rural communities. This support helps Liberian County Security Councils inform Liberians about COVID-19 risks, increase personal safety measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, and protect Liberian security officials who engage with the public as they respond to the COVID-19 health emergency that has spread globally. In addition to funding the public awareness campaign, INL also donated hand sanitizer, buckets with faucets for hand washing, disinfectant soap, megaphones, and thermometers to Liberian County Security Councils and law enforcement personnel. This COVID-19 response program, valued at $32,000, was part of INL’s Mitigating Local Disputes in Liberia program and administered through The Kaizen Company.

EPA Holds Consultative Meeting On Green Climate Fund’s Country Program Document
Monrovia – The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) is expected to commence a two-day consultative meeting on Friday, July 10, 2020 to launch the development of Liberia’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) Country Program document. Over the past years, the Liberian Government through the EPA has been engaged with the GCF to support several climate development projects in Liberia. Also, the Climate Information Service project was developed and forwarded to the GCF Secretariat via the African Development Bank. Mr. Sokan noted that the NDA, as part of its mandate, is expected to elaborate a country programme for Liberia. The first consultative meeting is expected to attract stakeholders, particularly government institutions, entities accredited by GCF operating in Liberia and the private sector.

With this funding, Empowerment Squared will work to strengthen the education system and outcomes for Black and racialized newcomer youth between ages 12-25 in Hamilton. This investment builds on Empowerment Squared’s success in achieving significant, innovative, and consistent improvements in educational outcomes for newcomer and marginalized youth since 2007. Empowerment Squared will use its YOF funding over the next four years to conduct research that informs and tests the School Readiness Academy model. Changing a system to better serve youth facing barriers requires strategic and active participation from many stakeholders, including young people with lived experience.
