The Executive Mansion, in a statement Friday said the LTA Chairman, Ivan Brown’s suspension takes immediate effect. The statement said, Mr. Brown is being suspended for what was term, “conspiratorial and unethical activities as chairman of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority.”“The Suspended LTA Chairman is advised to turn over all properties of the Authority in his possession. Orange has been adamant on adhering to the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) regulation. But sources confided to FrontPageAfrica Friday that the suspended LTA boss had been compromised and had been working against the government’s position on the issue of the surcharge.

Liberia: Bong County Residents in Denial after County Health Team Confirms First COVID-19 Death
The deceased died at his residence on the morning of June 2, 2020 following a protracted illness, family told FrontPageAfrica. Report by Selma Lomax, [email protected]The county health officer, Dr. Adolphus Yeiah, told a media briefing Thursday that specimen of the deceased sent to the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) on June 2 came back positive. Circumstances surrounding the confirmation of COVID-19 of the deceased seem not to have convinced many residents of Bong County that COVID-19 is real and in the county. Speaking to FrontPage Africa Friday, Bong County superintendent Esther Walker, said, “I plead with residents of the county and other journalists in the county to assist the county and the county health team deal with the issue of prejudice even among residents”. She added that county authority and the county health team will establish isolation center on Phebe Compound with the medical personnel well taken care of, which she said will be a proof of pro-activeness in combating the pandemic.

Chuluty told FrontPageAfrica that he fled shortly after the rape out of fear because his wife got angry with him after she found out. “The problem when it happened, I ran away and went to the bush because my wife was vexed,” Chuluty said. Upon seeing the Video, Chuluty said he had to turned himself in to the police for investigation because he felt guilty about the incident. In the same police charge sheet, the rape survivor’s mother confirmed her daughter was raped and later got pregnant for her husband. The 15-year-old told the police that she was frequently abused by her father every early Morning when her Mother went away to sell.

According to Senator Tengbeh, Senator Dillon accused his colleagues of receiving bribe to pass the recast budget. Liberia Closing in on Tentative Date for Reopening of Airport
Monrovia – Authorities at the Roberts International Airport have been meeting with stakeholders, both local and international to explore the possibility of reopening the Roberts International Airport to commercial flights. The new concept is drafted in in keeping with an advisory from the Airport Council International and the National Public Health Institute. The new regulations include a mandatory public health concept for travelers with technology aided screening, testing and quarantine procedure. Bishop Klayee said in the next few days the public will be informed about a tentative date for the reopening of the airport and resumption of flights. The discussions over the possible tentative date for reopening comes as Liberia continues to record mass number of recoveries from the deadly Coronavirus.

Liberia: Man, 23, stabbed to Death by Blood Sister in Duport Road
Paynesville – A 23-year-old man, identified as Melvin Zarwolo has died after being stabbed multiple times allegedly by his sister following a row over a bucket used to fetch water. The father of the deceased, Akoi Jallah told FrontPageAfrica that he received a call from his little brother on Wednesday, informing him about the fatal death of his son at the hands of his sister. According to Massaquoi, the alleged perpetrator often complained that her parents favored her little brother, and as the result, she often quarreled with him. “His [the deceased] sister is a person who usually go on the streets and only returns when she is pregnant or in trouble. Senator Johnson had been a staunch member of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), which is already in a coalition with the Liberia People Democratic Party and the Congress for Democratic making them the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC). Liberia: Margibi County’s Circuit Court Defers German Man Murder Case To Next Term of Court
Kakata – The Liberian Government quest for a speedy trial in the German national murder case at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County has been dealt a blow due to the court deferment of the trial for the next Term of Court. She revealed that the Supreme Court had advised Judges that if any party requests for a jury trial during this period of COVID-19, that matter should be deferred to the next Term of Court. “Section 20.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia which says right to trial by jury, a defendant should be accorded the right to jury trial except for petty offence, but this is a murder trial. The court do here grant the defense lawyer motion for jury trial and the case differed to the next Term of Court and hereby so order,” Judge Tarr-Chenoweth ruled. Wesseh A. Wesseh, Assistant Justice Minister for Litigation, took no objection to the defense’s motion for jury trial.

Liberia: Lutheran Church To Begin Traditional Worship Service Following Assessment of COVID-19 Situation

Bishop Jensen, according to the release, will continue holding meetings with pastors on a weekly basis to “assess the situation”. “We pray that our pastors and members will keep safe and help the rest of the nation remain safe.
