These schools are currently operating without thermometer which should be used to check the daily temperature of students. Bomi County – In the wake of speculation of his ambition to contest the December 8 Special Senatorial election in Bomi County following his recent resignation from the former ruling Unity Party, Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe has received endorsement support from former Bomi County Senator Lahai Lassana. Senator Johnson reaffirmed his membership to the NPP after the 2017 election but has since gone renegade and has been heard lambasting the ruling party on many occasions. Alex Tyler, whose Liberia People Democratic Party is part of the ruling CDC, completes the list of three major candidates in the impending race. Like Senator Johnson, the former House Speaker is well-seated to win the CDC ticket to contest in race. Ahead of the December election, Snowe, who is a Representative for Bomi County, achieved his seat in a hard-fought victory.

Prior to printing the additional Liberian Dollar banknotes, the banking system had experienced dire liquidity problems, including mutilated banknotes and insufficient bank notes in the banking system to meet depositors’ demand for cash. The Act, when passed, seeks to strengthen citizens’ participation in the management of resources allocated to each of the 15 counties within the National Budget framework and those remitted by concessions to promote local development. The CSDF Stand-Alone Bill has been at the Liberian Senate since March 19, 2020 upon passage into law by the House of Representative on March 10, 2020Senators present at the dialogue included: Sen. Henrique F. Tokpa (Bong County), Sen. Matthew N. Jaye (Rivergee County), Sen. Jonathan L. Kaipay (Grand Bassa Co.), Sen. Augustine S. Chea (Sinoe County), Sen. Peter S. Coleman (Grand Kru County), Sen. George T. Tengbeh (Lofa County) and Sen. Steve Zargo (Lofa County). IREDD, along with the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Coalition works with the Liberia Accountability and Voice Initiative (LAVI) with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Monrovia – Darcy Ben, 51, who has been accused by his 17-year-old biological daughter of raping her, has been arrested charged and detained at the Monrovia Central Prison pending prosecution. Ben was forwarded to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice on Tuesday, July 7 after he was charged by the Liberia National Police following an investigation. When her stepmother told her father that Lea had been sad all day, he again threatened her that if she told anyone, he would kill her. He has not been officially charged and sent to court, but the alleged crime committed is rape and incest as defined in the Penal Law of Liberia. As for Defendant Ben, the police added that during investigation after his arrest, he denied committing the act but admitted that he has been accused by the victim of sexually harassing her.

MONROVIA – Christian Revival Church Association (CRCA), Water of Life, and the Last Well institutions operating in Liberia have dedicated seven pumps out of its 17 wells drilled in Foya and Koluhun Districts in Lofa County. CRCA Bishop also noted that clean drinking water is paramount to the growth the development of Lofa County. The Plenary of the House, acting on the request of Rep. Richard Koon’s (District 11, Montserrado) communication voted to invite the management of the agency to state reasons behind his actions. “I am craving the endorsement of this plenary to cite the head of the National Disaster Management Agency to state reasons for the agency lackadaisical attitude in the implementation of its mandate,” he wrote. It can be recalled that in April 2020, a disastrous storm hit the three Electoral Districts damaging several houses and leaving many homeless. The lawmakers of the affected districts including Reps. Samuel Enders (District 6, Montserrado County), Richard Koon (District #11, Montserrado) and Edward Flomo (District #13) formed a partnership with Senator Darius Dillon to identify with the distressed residents.
