LONDON – Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says it is long overdue that Africa is permanently represented on the Security Council of the United Nations. Sirleaf told the council that the African Continent is sensitive to this reality in forging new partnerships. It calls for a more representative and democratic Security council, in which Africa, like all other world regions, is represented. Culling from our experience with the outbreak of the Ebola in West Africa, Sirleaf says there are many similarities. And in this regard, we need a united and supported World Health Organization as opposed to a fragmented and politicized one.

Monrovia – The book, Forensic Accounting Analytics and Pension Fund Administration: A Study of Selected Administrators in Liberia, is the first of its kind in our country, Liberia. Forensic accounting or forensic auditing has emerged as a result of the surge in fraud. Given this broad spectrum of objectives of this book, the characteristics of a forensic auditor were examined and skills, as well as objectives of the forensic audit were discussed. In the discussion of the application of forensic audit, both reactive and proactive accountings were examined which is followed by a highlight on the distinction between statutory audit and forensic audit. The book also concluded that forensic audit practice can reduce the incidence of fraud even in the Pension Fund.

The Mayor is part of a few government officials who have adhered to health authorities’ appeal for voluntary testing amidst a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Liberia. MONROVIA – The Mayor of Monrovia has undergone voluntary testing for coronavirus and is urging all residents within Monrovia to follow his example by turning up at any of the sample collection sites to give samples for testing for the COVID-19. The Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) have been calling on the public, especially public officials to voluntarily avail themselves for COVID-19 test. Liberia currently has 516 confirmed cases, 243 active cases, 240 recovery and 33 deaths with the total of 12 counties affected.
