MONROVIA – FrontPageAfrica has been able to confirm that three Senators who attended to joint security meeting in which the Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) attended and subsequently died of COVID-19 have tested negative for the virus. They include Senators Steve Zargo, (LP LOfa County), Johnathan Kaipay (LP-Grand Bassa County) and Senator Conmany Wesseh (UP-Rive-gee County). According to Senator Zargo, he along with his colleagues participated in a joint security meeting on April 11 where the three of them sat far from Soko. A senior security official told FPA early Friday the symptoms prior to Soko’s death indicated COVID-19 but the test results would determine. Mr. Soko was taken to the 14 Military Hospital late Thursday; but authorities tell FPA that he arrived too late and died before arrival.

Liberia recorded eight new cases over the past 24 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 141 as of April 27, 200MONROVIA – The novel coronavirus has spread across at least seven counties in Liberia with Montserrado County remaining the most affected, reporting at least 129 cases of. There is an overall of 141 cases confirmed cases in Liberia. The country is also experiencing a gradual surge in the number of positive cases with eight new cases recorded in the last 24 hours. The number of confirmed cases on April 26 was 133. Also announcing his positive result on Sunday, Minister Dean when asked whether he was in any of the security meetings with Soko, Minister Dean responded in the affirmative.

The Presidential Committee has not met physically, but it has met virtually. The Presidential Committee members were appointed by the President of the Republic by the issuance of ‘Presidential Letters’ and not via Facebook or other social media platforms. Some of the journalists who have accused members of the State Security of abuses are located in counties that are distanced from Monrovia. I have only on today learnt that the PUL has set up a committee to work along with the Presidential Committee and we welcome that and look forward to working in tandem. The Presidential Committee respects the leadership of the Press Union of Liberia and remains committed to the mandate it has received from the President of the Republic of Liberia.
