And 24 years down the line, it’s not just Liberia, but the world is faced with a global enemy – the Cornonavirus. From basic hygiene needs to health infrastructure, African countries are not the best or even among the best. And like Liberia, the world will forever remember this COVID – 19 outbreak.

Do not use coronavirus as an excuse to destroy properties and stop their livelihoods. I like to see similar measures taken in many places in Monrovia and in many major cities across the Nation, including the famous Red Light Market. Therefore, I’m in shape opposition to any mandate by the City Mayor of Monrovia to have businesses painted blue, white and red. It’s also a security measure to enable law enforcement officials to differentiate commercial vehicles from ordinary vehicles. It’s within the right of any nation to order taxis or commercial vehicles to be painted a certain color for uniformity.

The editor,I’m so disappointed with the appointment by the president with his nominee to head the National Elections Commission. I’m a die-hard CDCian but let us be real. You cannot take a Nigerian and make him to be the head of the elections commission in our country. This is totally wrong. Josh smith[email protected]

“There are confirmed cases of coronavirus in Liberia and there is the same lackadaisical approach to supporting these children. Sawboh further called for immediate action to protect the health and wellbeing of all children in orphanages and families caring for orphans. According to Sawboh, orphans were greatly affected by the epidemic due to limitedsupport given to orphanages by the Liberian government. He pointed out that the situation placed orphans at high risk because many of those running orphanages had to survive on handouts at the mercies of the communities during the Ebola crisis. Like the Ebola crisis, Sawboh pointed out, that government and its citizens remain less prepared to confront this pandemic.

We (Liberians) have without a doubt, acknowledged that our education system requires reforms and therefore, I use this article to urge our Government, to integrate ICTs in the education system as part of its efforts to bring reforms in that area. It is generally acknowledged that the education system of Liberia is in dire need of reforms. Investing in ICT-driven education system requires considerable capital, vision, and political will on the part of Government. The question arises: Is the current government with its Pro-Poor Agenda willing to make such an investment to improve our education system? A well-structured educational technology plan should exist to support Liberia’s education system.

Dear Mr. PresidentGreetings:In the spirit of national cohesiveness, genuine love and patriotism, I do appreciate the Government of Liberia for the preliminary step of public awareness regarding preventive measures necessary for the extermination of the novel COVID-19 pandemic. For ours, retribution taken against citizens who defiantly sell in street corners is unjustifiable because all humans have the FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO LIFE! These poor Liberian traders live when they eat, and they only eat when they sell. Impartially ensure health protocols set up to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic be respected and obeyed by everyone, irrespective of societal status. Improve on COVID-19 pandemic awareness drive and have measures of prevention been played regularly by media outlets in all of the fifteen (15) political subdivisions in all Liberian vernaculars.

Last week, the Committee to Protect Journalists published an open letter to world leaders urging the immediate release of all journalists imprisoned for their work. As of March 31, at least 11 of these journalists have been released from jails in Somalia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, DRC, Algeria, Comoros, South Sudan, and Egypt, according to CPJ research. However, at least six more journalists and media workers have been jailed since December 1, and remain in prison as of March 31, including four in Ethiopia and one each in Cameroon and Algeria. Imprisoned journalists have no control over their surroundings, cannot choose to isolate, and are often denied necessary medical care. We urge you to release every jailed journalist in your respective countries and to protect the free press and the free flow of information at this crucial time.

The resolution also separated the office of the chairman from the political leader of the party. “Observing that the positions of National Chairman and Political Leader are two separate roles currently assigned to the Office of the National Chairman thereby making the task cumbersome for single office, the executive committee of the party resolved that Dan Saryee then plays the role as chairman while Amb. Kemeyah ascends as political leader of MOVEE. Kemayah welcomes the decision to make him Political Leader of MOVEE and looks forward to continuing to work in the best interest of the party.
