Liberia: CSO Platform Wants Senate Halt Confirmation Hearing amid Covid-19 Concerns But Supreme Court Denies Petition
The rights group challenged the Senate and sought a prohibition on the entire confirmation hearing from the Supreme Court of Liberia. The Justice in Chamber, Associate Justice Jamesetta Wolokollie, however, denied the petition, something which left the CSO Platform in disappointment. “Others including churches and marketers have suspended every livelihood activity in line with the health protocols, but the Senate still continues to carry activities that promote large gathering and this is unfair to those observing the protocols. But unfortunately for us at the Supreme Court, the Justice in Chamber refused to yield to our request to issue a writ of prohibition to stop the Senate,” said Adama Dempster, Secretary of the CSO Platform. Petitioner says countries provide humanitarian and developmental supports to Liberia because Liberia is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Scientific research has demonstrated over and over that this advanced IDT practice raises the consciousness of all those within its field. A global experiment to assess the influence of the advanced practices of advanced TM on world trends was conducted December 1983 for three weeks. COVID19 may be an opportunity for Africa to re-evaluate its approach to societal issues and try something new. At this time, the extensive body of TM research does not yet indicate that meditation will makes society immune to the COVID-19 virus.

If this was the document this guy presented as his naturalization certificate, I have few thoughts on it:The naturalization document the guy presented is disfigured and tampered with. You can see the misalignment of written in text versus the original stock text of the certificate. (Image 2) The last name is misspelled in the second space and the misalignment with the stock text is obvious. Again, I want to PUBLICLY call on President Weah to withdraw this nomination and have this guy investigated. There is no reason for this Nigerian to create this amount of dissension among your people Mr. President.

Liberia: Grand Bassa Lawmaker Completes US$150K Bridge Project in Wee District
District Four, Grand Bassa County – Representative Vicent Willie (Ind. District 4 Grand Bassa County) and his constituents are preparing to dedicate what has been described as “his signature campaign project” in Wee Statutory District. The construction of the bridge is the first of its kind since the establishment of LAC plantation back in 1959, which Liberia’s second-largest rubber plantation. Foreign Minister Findley and Japan’s Ambassador to LiberiaMonrovia – The Government and People of Japan have approved a grant of US$217,780 for the commencement of phase one of the Modern Duala Market Project. Phase one of the Modern Duala Market project for which the grant has been approved will include, the fencing, lightening, construction of reservoir and pit latrines. The Modern Duala Market will accommodate a little over 5000 marketers. The proposed Modern Duala Market will be financed by the Japanese Counterpart Value Fund currently being managed and operated by the Japanese Counterpart Valued Fund Secretariat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is not the only project that the Japanese Government is engaged in in Liberia.

On Monday, March 30, 2020, the nominee for the position of chairman of the National Elections Commission (NEC) alleged that he was 17 years old when he obtained his naturalization of Liberian citizenship in 1982. Nwabudike said at age 17 when he decided to obtain Liberian citizenship he was required by the court to take along an adult who could stand as guarantor. The Nigerian-born naturalized citizen of Liberia was nominated on March 20 by President George Weah to head the National Elections Commission alongside Cllr. Even though he is a naturalized Liberia, he has a Nigerian root, which his critics think should not allow him to head such a vital institution of the Liberian Government. These people think such a post should only be exclusively reserved for a born citizen and not a naturalized one.

He was amongst 113 persons recruited in 2012 by the LEC and assigned across the four power stations in the county. The former project manager of LEC, Joseph Leay, recruited the workers after they applied based on a public service announcement aired on local radio stations, said Emmanuel Sann, spokesperson for the aggrieved workers. ‘Not Out For Violence’“We want an amicable solution to our grievance because we are from Nimba County – people consider us to be trouble makers. “For this reason, we’ve decided to take the legal way in order to approach our issue…We are not out for violence.”Many of these aggrieved workers who gathered also denounced any unlawful remedy.
