Fallah also presented a cash amount of L$1 million to the district. We need to stimulate them by identifying with 75 pastors and Imams each within the district,” Fallah asserted.

We wish to dissociate ECOWAS and its health Institution, West Africa Health Organization (WAHO), from this claim and to inform the general public that we have not ordered the said CVO medication. WAHO has also in the recent past identified, nurtured and supported centers of excellence in traditional medicine across the ECOWAS region. We are working with Member States on some of the medications available for clinical trials and for use on a compassionate basis in selected severe cases. Some of the traditional medicine centers of excellence in the ECOWAS region are also currently investigating products of potential efficacy. This week, Madagascar sent several packages of its locally made COVID-19 “herbal medicine” to 15 African countries including Liberia.

Paynesville City – Straight From the Heart International, the parent organization of Arthur and Zwannah First Autism Classroom in Liberia, has donated food and non-food items to families of children with autism, spectrum disorder or similar disability. The donation is part of effort to support children in such conditions in the wake of the government’s stay home order in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. “So our parent organization, Straight From The Heart International, launched a fundraiser online, which enabled us to get the money to buy these items so that these children can eat and be protected too, while at home” Gebeh said. Speaking on behalf of the parents, Madam Sowoneh Kennedy said they are grateful to the organization for making their children to feel loved in the society. When there is no heart you will abandon them,” Madam Kennedy said in tears.

Monrovia – The National Elections Commission (NEC) says the date for the 2020 Special Senatorial Election (SSE) and Constitutional Referendum is not feasible amidst the current global outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and related restrictions. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Coronavirus or Covid-19 a global pandemic on 12 January 2020 following the rapid spread of the respiratory disease worldwide. On 16 March, in response to the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Liberia, President George M. Weah announced series of measures, including travel restrictions within the Country, ban on international travel to and from Liberia, and avoidance of public gatherings. On 10 April, the President declared a 21-day state of emergency, which was later approved and extended by the Legislature to 60 days until 11 June. In line with the Constitution, the 2020 SSE election is scheduled for October 13, 2020 alongside the Referendum.

The plan includes three critical projects that was submitted to the Lebanese community for approval and support. Wazni, who is also the chairperson on the Lebanese community on the COVID-19 Response, added that the project was scrutinized and endorsed and it’s fully funded by members of the Lebanese community in the country. “In a hard time you know your real friends; the Lebanese community has proven that they are sons and daughters of Liberia,” Ambassador Kastoun said. Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gbehzohngar Milton Findley praised the Lebanese community for their “enormous contribution” to Liberia especially during crisis. World Lebanese Cultural Union is an international, secular, non-denominational, non-profit organization sponsored by the Government of Lebanon but working independently in cooperation with Lebanese emigrants abroad, representing the Lebanese Diaspora across the world.

Monrovia – A rising innovative Liberian owned business, the EMANSO Group of Companies has begun the distribution of locally manufactured hand-washing materials to several residents and communities across Montserrado County. More so, why did UNDP allocate a significant portion of the program ($2.0B) to individuals, but allocated a minuscule amount to companies? Sadly, why does the United Nations add 65% of the based salary to the original salary, resulting into excessive salary? However, UNDP should not invest donations at the expense of fighting poverty, education, etc. For instance, on page # 44 through page # 77 of its 2017 Audited Financial statements, UNDP listed (1) Board Recommendations; (2) UNDP Responses; and (3) Board Assessments.

Fonati Koffa has formally written the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) on Tuesday to conduct a comprehensive audit. He added that reputable auditing firms through AFriland Bank audit the bank annually. The Superintendent of the Grand Kru County, Madam Doris Yltun said the delay in getting the Central Bank to transmit money to MC2 is responsible for salary delay in the county. MC2 Bank was established to tackle decentralization of payments of civil servants and provide access to banking of residents in the county.

MONROVIA – In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis occasioned by and government’s lockdown measures in the country, the Anti-AIDS Media Network, AAMIN on May 4, 2020 donated several items to its members from various media institutions and secretariat staff in the country. The organization’s members are across the fifteen counties of Liberia, but the donation targeted journalists from Montserrado County, the epicenter of the virus. He called on members of AAMIN to continue to practice what they have learned over the years as trained health journalists while reporting on the COVID-19 in the country. Andrews reminded the AAMIN members who had assembled for the donation to adhere to all health protocols as they report on the virus. Mr. Akoi M. Baysah, Assistant Secretary-General of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) thanked AAMIN and partner for identifying with its members in a timely manner.

MONROVIA – The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA) has launched its Coronavirus Outreach & Awareness Initiative (COAI). The first phase of this GPFA initiative included several community-based approaches and partnerships with organizations & institutions to raise awareness around the prevention and transmission of COVID-19 in Liberia. The Foundation realizes this impact and as such, has launched the second phase of their COVID-19 outreach. Since the inception of COVID-19 in Liberia, the Foundation has distributed over 2,000 masks to market women, bank tellers, motorcyclists, and the general public through its scholarship recipients. She also applauded local organizations, youth, and women-led groups for their efforts in the fight to stop the spread of the virus.

The 9th Street property, according to that declaration was worth US$150,000, the Rehab structure was valued US$100,000. The Miami, Florida property – US$1.4 million while the other property in Florida was put at US$900,000.00.

Monrovia – Opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) comprising All Liberian Party, Unity Party, Liberty Party and Alternative National Congress, has reached out to several underprivileged communities in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown. The four political parties think that the most vulnerable in society during such crises are the ones who should be looked out for. They termed their gesture as a way to put a smile on the faces of those often forgotten in society. “On behalf of the four collaborating parties we are moving out extending hands to several less fortunate communities within the 17 electoral districts of Montserrado County,” he said. Since the outbreak of the virus in Liberia, CPP has been proactive in helping to prevent the spread of the virus in by giving out preventative materials in the fight against the deadly virus.
