Monrovia – Agriculture Minister, Jeanine M. Cooper, has, with immediate effect, cancelled a bidding process for heavy-duty tractors and other agricultural equipment in order to rationalize spending of donor funds. We can’t afford to spend money buying equipment that we will not be used”, Minister Cooper asserted. Minister Cooper exercises overall supervision of all government and donor funded projects within the agriculture sector. “Our farmers need equipment and tools suited for Liberia; for our farms and crops. Farmers need help with post-harvest machinery, and to be able to use modern drying techniques that will reduce their losses after harvesting”.

We also know that the UNFPA is actively working in Liberia to provide food supplies to the many disadvantaged and vulnerable persons. Proposal: The beauty of our current situation is that the blueprint for the Ebola fight is still available and many of those actively involved in that fight are still around. We have heard that WHO has made available additional testing supplies but the public is yet to be informed about the quantities and capabilities of these testing supplies. What is the inventory of testing supplies? There are reports pointing to the lack of testing supplies, food, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, and electricity.

By Alvin Wesseh, Contributing WriterWe have chosen to be apolitical during these turbulent times to concentrate more on the fight against this deadly coronavirus pandemic that is life-threatening to our very existence as human beings. Let it be unequivocally cleared that few doctors alone can’t fight this deadly coronavirus pandemic and that is the simple reason why they are called volunteers to fight against the coronavirus in Liberia. Like we did before,it was a collective fight against the deadly Ebola virus and the success story could be used to hasten the perpetual demise of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in Liberia. We want to appreciate all Liberians home and abroad for the moral, financial and for the increase awareness and sensitization to eliminate the deadly coronavirus pandemic. To Mayor Koijee and the rest of the team, please be strong. This too is Liberia where envy and hate is considered politics.

The news of the Conoravirus or COVID – 19 presence in Liberia really scares me! Even with some of the best medical practitioners in the world, the United States is still struggling to defend themselves against COVID – 19. After our index case in Liberia, our case count was at three for a while which was not the case in many countries around the world. I’m wondering if the people issuing all these directives are from Liberia or whether they live in Liberia. Coupled with COVID – 19, survival might become a rare commodity.

Some fish importers discussing the US$2.00 reduction in the cartoons of some fish productionsBUSHROD ISLAND – The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) in consultation with major fish importers in Liberia has reached an agreement to have a 2 United States dollars reduction in the prices of fish products. The decision is part of efforts to ensuring continuous food security in Liberia. NaFAA says the 2 US dollars reduction in these specific fish products that are mostly consumed by Liberians is intended to reduce the retail cost of fish on the market. A NaFAA release mandates all fish sellers or fish mongers in Liberia to take advantage of the intervention by the government of Liberia and avoid any artificial increment in the prices of those fish products on the markets. “This measure when it comes into effect would enable affordability of fish on the local market,” the release concludes.
