Mishri stated that HSC members were prevented from entry by the Constitutional Defence Force by instruction from the Defence Minister (Aldabaiba). He singled out Ibrahim Aldabaiba, Aldabaiba’s nephew and consultant, and Aldabaiba’s media guru, Walid Alafi, for being behind the incident. He said Aldabaiba wants to monopolise power and fears his government will be replaced if the HSC and HoR reach consensus. Complaint to Attorney GeneralMishri also directed a legal complaint to the Attorney General for the prevention by force of the HSC from holding its meeting. To this end, he called for an urgent meeting between the HSC and HoR under the auspices of UNSMIL to unify the government and prepare for elections.

The High Council of State's accusations came after armoured vehicles from an armed group commanded by Dbeibah's administration surrounded a major hotel in the capital Tripoli, preventing council members from entering, according to images broadcast by local media. The council's head, Khaled al-Mishri, said in a video statement on Facebook that the body had been due to vote on a constitutional basis for elections. Polls had been set for December 2021 to elect a replacement for Dbeibah's government, but were indefinitely postponed. The meeting was also set to discuss "the unification of executive power", implying that it would cover the fate of Dbeibah's government. Libya has been plagued by violence since the fall of Moamer Kadhafi's regime in 2011.

This workshop will offer participants the opportunity to improve their capacity of enhancing Libyan exports under the AfCFTA by studying best practices in export promotion policymaking. It will also be an opportunity to present African, international institutions and programs that can be used to enhance intra-regional trade between African countries with the final goal of supporting Libya’s efforts to design a national strategy for the implementation of the AfCFTA.

Increasingly, the headsets used to navigate the digital space are evolving, becoming more lightweight, efficient, and feature-rich. However, to reproduce immersive images and experience in these headsets and devices, XR solutions also need to be able to rapidly access and process huge amounts of data. Some RT3D engines can then enhance these components with AI algorithms, to make the experience feel as realistic as possible. XR Training and UpskillingFinally, one of the most powerful areas any XR innovator should be considering right now, falls into the realm of training and upskilling in XR. Business leaders need to embed XR solutions into their training strategies, to prepare users to thrive in a more digitally-enhanced world.

Ünal Çeviköz, a member of Turkey’s parliament, has criticized Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his government’s foreign policy, especially its involvement in Libya and Syria. “It was a mistake for Turkey to take sides with the forces in Libya for ideological reasons,” Çeviköz told Çavuşoğlu during a parliamentary hearing. “Previous agreements were not ratified in the House of Representatives, what steps are being taken to make these documents valid?,” he asked rhetorically. Furthermore, he questioned the latest gas exploration deal signed on 3 October with the Libyan Government of National Unity, citing “unstable environment” in Libya. “We support Turkey’s rights and interests without any hesitation, but given the disparity in Libya, the agreements must become legal, free of ideological approaches and without taking sides,” said the Turkish MP.

November 13, 2022 — Rome (AFP)Leona Blankenstein couldn't believe what she was hearing when the Libyan coastguard threatened to blast her small plane out of the sky. Despite years of criticism by charities and human rights groups, Italy quietly renewed the accord earlier this month. In 2012, the European Court of Human Rights condemned Italy for intercepting and forcibly returning people to Libya, prompting a new approach. In October, investigative journalist Duccio Facchini revealed Italy spent another 6.65 million euros on 14 new speedboats for the Libyan coastguard just months ago. Amnesty said it is "disgraceful" Rome "continues to assist Libyan authorities in violating their people's human rights".

There is no clear end in sight to Libya’s deadlockHafed Al-GhwellAbdoulaye Bathily. (AFP/File)Short Url https://arab.news/bkda7Just two weeks ago, the UN’s 10th special envoy in the past 11 years, Abdoulaye Bathily, acknowledged in a briefing to the Security Council an already well-known fact: There is no clear end in sight to Libya’s deadlock. Instead, there is a preference for some kind of power-sharing deal that would then be anointed by sham elections. It dovetails rather curiously with the fact that no external actors are genuinely pushing for, or actively working toward, organizing Libyan elections. These declarations are neither alarming nor novel: Even Libya’s fault lines are now somewhat different from the usual east-west parallelism.
