Operation IRINI has said it confiscated dozens of military vehicles shipped to Libya on board a Dutch-flagged commercial ship on October 11, without disclosing the receiving party. The European Union Naval Force, established in March 2020 to monitor the UN arms embargo on Libya, said in its recent report on Wednesday that this was the second time IRINI seized a cargo in implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution in less than three months. "One of the European military vessels operating in the Central Mediterranean Sea for Operation IRINI detected the ship on its way to Libya. Upon Operation IRINI’s request... the Netherlands, as the ship’s flag state, gave its consent without delay for the inspection and on 11 October, a boarding team was sent on board to verify the nature of those vehicles. The report indicated that the ship was diverted to a European port, where a UN Panel of Experts investigated the cargo before the vehicles were disembarked and stored ashore.

He also organized catering for Kremlin events for several years — earning him the nickname “Putin's chef” — and has provided catering and utility services to the Russian military. In 2017, opposition figure and corruption fighter Alexei Navalny accused Prigozhin's companies of breaking antitrust laws by bidding for some $387 million in Defense Ministry contracts. But in September, he acknowledged being the founder of Wagner in a social media statement released by his companies' press service. Some media reports suggested Prigozhin’s influence on Putin is growing and he is after a prominent political post.

“The holding of acceptable and fair elections in Libya requires an executive authority capable of extending its power over the whole country backed by a unified supervisory authority, which requires speeding up the unification of sovereign positions,” said the head of the State Council, Khaled Al-Mashri. The statements of the leader in the Muslim Brotherhood group came during a meeting with the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, in Tripoli, where the two sides discussed the political crisis in the country in light of the presence of two governments, according to a statement by Al-Mashri media office. For his part, Norland affirmed his country’s support for “everything that would expedite the completion of the electoral elections in a proper manner and acceptable to the political parties in Libya,” the statement added.

United Nations published this video item, entitled “Libya: lack of belief in justice & peace but not “mission impossible”-ICC Security Council Briefing” – below is their description. There is this sentiment that we heard it all before: “What is the international community doing? What is the ICC doing? We talk about justice, but we do not see it, and we don’t feel it.” One survivor said, “We keep hearing about justice; we keep hearing about the ICC. This strengthened the office’s ability to address practical, logistical, and security challenges associated with the investigation in a flexible manner.”United Nations YouTube Channel

The row centers on the Ocean Viking, a charity ship that has sailed away from Sicilian waters toward France after unsuccessfully waiting for permission to dock in Italy since late October. Italian leaders have claimed that France is ready to accept the migrants, but Paris has warned that the ship was in Italian waters and branded the refusal to let her dock "unacceptable". It did not single out Italy or France by name, but noted the "clear and unequivocal" legal obligation to rescue distressed persons at sea. In June, around a dozen EU countries, including France, agreed to take in migrants who arrive in Italy and other main entry points. So far this year, 164 asylum seekers have been moved from Italy to other nations in the bloc that have volunteered to accept them.

November 9, 2022 — Tripoli (AFP)The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor said Wednesday he had urged eastern Libyan military chief Khalifa Haftar to "prevent" crimes by his troops, as investigations into their actions continue. Karim Khan, the first ICC prosecutor to visit the war-torn country in a decade, arrived in Libya on Saturday. "I said that those were and are being investigated, (and) that military commanders must prevent, must repress and must punish crimes when they emerge." The Kaniyat allied with Haftar during his year-long offensive on Tripoli, but after he retreated in mid-2020, residents began discovering bodies. Before taking over as the ICC's lead prosecutor, Karim Khan defended Seif al-Islam Kadhafi, son of slain dictator Moamer Kadhafi, whose arrest the ICC is seeking for "crimes against humanity".

I would like to start by thanking the Prosecutor Khan for his 24th Report and for briefing us today on the work of the Office. I am pleased to note the Office of the Prosecutor has accelerated its investigative and cooperation activities under the renewed strategy outlined in the previous report. The report also highlights the increased support received from the Libyan authorities, including from the Office of the President of the Presidential Council of Libya ahead of the Prosecutor’s visit to Tripoli at present. We encourage the Libyan authorities to build on this and to take the key steps outlined in the report to increase further cooperation. In conclusion Madam President, I underline that the UK remains committed to working with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Libyan authorities, and urge them to build on the momentum that we’ve heard of today and accelerate progress towards justice for the victims.
