MADRID (Reuters) -Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman hit out on Wednesday at football's authorities as the fallout continued from now-abandoned plans to create a European Super League. "Everyone's talking about the Super League and the Champions League, but UEFA aren't paying any attention to the players about the number of games. The Dutchman also said that club president Joan Laporta had spoken to him about the Super League, but would not be drawn on Barca's participation. What I want most is what's best for this club," Koeman said. We just want what's best for the club, but if anyone has to speak about this subject, it's the president."

Frostick, who has three young children, said he is responsible for the overwork and neglect of his health that culminated in the heart attack. In the post, Frostick vowed to make changes, including limiting Zoom calls, restructuring his approach to work and spending more time with family. The decision to write the raw LinkedIn post comes at a precarious time in his life and finances, said Frostick. Still, he doesn’t blame HSBC for his health problems and is bullish about future prospects. “I don’t think this should reflect badly on the place where I work, I think it’s fairly consistent across the industry, and I think that’s why it’s resonated with so many people,” he said.

Economic prospects are likely to brighten, underpinned by a growing likelihood that the economic damage caused by the pandemic is reversing. The New York Fed’s Weekly Economic Indicator points to US economic growth being much stronger than the consensus believes. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) composite lead indicators are rising across the board — indicating that economic growth will probably rev up in both developed countries as well as developing ones. Essentially, 40 years of pro-business policies are likely to give way to tax, regulatory and other changes that reduce corporate power. With China growing vibrantly and Europe eventually mounting a good recovery by year-end, we would have all the major global economies expanding vigorously and so boosting overall global growth.

BOAO, Hainan (The Straits Times/ANN): The continued delay in finalising a code of conduct (COC) in the South China Sea, a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, will lead to prolonged uncertainty in the area, former diplomats and academics said at a panel discussion on Tuesday (April 20). China and the Asean member states have been negotiating the COC, aiming to finalise it by the end of 2021. said Professor Wu Shicun, head of the Hainan-based National Institute of South China Sea Studies. Both Arroyo and Dino pointed out that while their respective countries are still willing to work with Beijing on areas like vaccine accessibility, the sentiment is different on issues relating to the South China Sea. The Philippines had won a landmark arbitration case over China in 2016, confirming that it has rights to the disputed area but Beijing has refused to recognise the ruling.

The Health Ministry must think out of box to tackle this problem as well as the types of vaccines to be used here. Chile was recently reported as having one of the world’s best vaccination rates, but Covid-19 is surging there anyway. Chile recorded more than 9,000 cases on April 9, the first time since the pandemic began, despite achieving a national vaccination rate of 38%. However, other factors could have also contributed to the currently high infection rate in Chile, including the more virulent strains of Covid-19. Vaccination of migrant workers is also vital to achieve herd immunity.

When we took him for his first dose in Penang, he was still terribly nervous and apprehensive. It was the professionalism of the staff at the vaccination centre that won him over. He later told us that he felt no side effects whatsoever, and has since become an advocate for vaccination to his group of elderly friends. My reason for writing is to convey my father’s thanks to the Prime Minister and government for looking after the welfare of the aged. He cannot write well in English but wanted to personally convey his gratitude and appreciation.

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak would have known the balance in his personal bank accounts due to the millions of ringgit in cheques that he had issued, the Court of Appeal heard. Ad hoc prosecutor Datuk V. Sithambaram said it was unbelievable that Najib had operated a large multi-million account without knowing the balance. “The value of the cheques issued makes it inevitable that the appellant had knowledge of the account balance. Sithambaram also said any suggestion of ignorance of the bank balance was evidence that the appellant blatantly attempted to hide his knowledge of the bank balances. Sithambaram also submitted that throughout the prosecution trial, Najib maintained that Low had manipulated his account and caused the RM42mil to flow into his personal bank accounts without his concurrence and knowledge.
