Our long-awaited Kilimanjaro trekking expedition in September 2014 required four flights and around two days of travelling from Malaysia to Moshi, Tanzania, where the mountain is. My friends (Henry and Paige) and I got our briefing from the guide, Mcdeme, the day after we arrived. It was a hot sunny day, but thankfully we reached our stop at the Shira campsite at around noon. I cried out of joy and exhaustion; I had finally achieved my dream of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in the African continent. If you are passionate about hiking and in particular, mountaineering, Mount Kilimanjaro should be on your list.

Legally, the maximum sound level permitted for motorcycles is between 92dBA and 99dBA, depending on the type of bike and manufacturing year (dBA, which stands for “A-weighted decibels”, is a measure of sound). Aside from motorbikes, vehicles like cars and lorries are allowed a range of maximum sound level between 80 and 88dBA, which may sound like a noisy restaurant. “Those who breach the sound levels will be subject to a maximum compound of RM2,000 and a written notice instructing the motorist to repair or reinstall the exhaust according to its original specifications from the manufacturer. “As a result, air and water quality improved, and there were reduced noise levels and land surface temperatures. “The sound also acts as a signal for other vehicles, especially cars to be aware that a motorcycle is close by.

SHEFFIELD, England (Reuters) - Ronnie O'Sullivan started his World Championship defence with a 10-4 win over Mark Joyce on Saturday as fans were allowed back into sporting events in England for the first time this year. More than 600 tickets were sold for the three sessions at the Crucible as part of the government's pilot scheme to help sport out of lockdown after an easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Six-time world champion O'Sullivan, 45, was playing on the first day of the tournament and despite a sloppy start he never looked threatened by Joyce as he entertained the reduced crowd. "It was really nice to have the crowd in because if there was no crowd I could have sunk even lower into my chair," O'Sullivan told the BBC. "You always like to keep them happy because they pay their money to have a good night out.

SOMETIME ago, I attended an old pupils’ reunion high tea at the premises of our great Methodist English School (MES) in Banting, Selangor. Had it not been for him, English education would not have reached the town so easily. MES was the only primary and secondary English school in Banting. Oswald did not only bring English education to the town, but also civilisation here.

From this perspective, respect based on seniority holds significance in Asian cultures where one’s status and age grant the person automatic rights to respect. Ultimately, true respect has to be earned through proving oneself, regardless of status or position. More importantly, I believe that respect is a two-way road. Beyond everything else, a person who does not respect others is undeserving of true respect. True respect is not necessarily based on status, so earn respect by respecting others and treating them well.

I WAS among the youths who recently took part in a peaceful gathering outside the Parliament building to push for the implementation of lowering the voting age. Allow me to address the doubts surrounding the lowering of the voting age and what this delay means, from my perspective as a 19-year-old. I would argue that by lowering the voting age, we place urgency on youths to begin enquiring on national affairs. This brings me to what the delayed implementation of the Undi18 bill means for me. The EC, along with the government, should ensure that the lowering of the voting age is implemented by this July, as promised.
