Sutra Foundation raring to restart with upcoming Odissi show 'Triple Frontiers'
It will be performed by dancers from the Sutra Foundation and Sutra Dance Outreach Programme, who were taught these pieces as solo works in 2019. The Sutra dancers have reinterpreted these works for the Triple Frontiers group performance. Her contribution for Triple Frontiers plays with themes of the flow of time and the sun (or day). Facebook acts after Welsh footballers racially abused
LONDON: Facebook has removed the Instagram accounts with which Welsh internationals Rabbi Matondo and Ben Cabango were racially abused following the 1-0 win over Mexico on Saturday. Facebook owns Instagram and acted a few hours after Matondo had slammed the social media platform, accusing Instagram of doing nothing about racist abuse. Welsh police have said they are “investigating the origin of racially motivated social media posts” aimed at Cabango and Matondo. “And it continues... another week of Instagram doing absolutely nothing about racial abuse,” Matondo wrote on Twitter. “My Instagram will get taken down if I post any clips from my games though... priorities.”The duo are the latest footballers to be racially abused on social media.

Ringgit falls against greenback on US economy optimism
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was slightly lower against the US dollar at the opening today on lack of demand for the local note, while the greenback is attracting interest on optimism over the US economy, a dealer said. As at 9am, the ringgit opened lower against the greenback at 4.1460/1500 compared with 4.1445/1485 at Friday’s close. Asked if the ringgit would be able to climb higher against the US dollar this year, Innes believes the answer is "yes”. Lovely lesson in gratitude
!”So he explained that he and his family went through the matchmaking process and the girl was getting engaged to him via video call. While he was giving me a hair cut, the reception had just started – ie, the guests had just arrived in his hometown in another country and started eating! Soon after the ceremony would start and then he would be dialled in for one of the biggest ceremonies of his life. It certainly gave me a wake up call about gratitude and being thankful for the many blessings I have in life. Make the best of every moment, celebrate it (you really don’t know how much more fortunate you are than some people).

Big push for e-money
MANILA: Philippine central bank deputy governor Mamerto Tangonan has long wanted to make electronic money so ubiquitous that one could pay at a street stall via mobile phone. “This is my life’s purpose, ” Tangonan said in a March 24 interview, his first since he took office in February. Digital payments are widespread in parts of Asia, particularly in China, and have surged globally amid the pandemic. The central bank is undertaking an aggressive social-media campaign to address this. YANGON (Bloomberg): Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims living in refugee camps in Bangladesh should be reintegrated into Myanmar society and afforded "full rights” including citizenship, according to a key ally of ousted Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The military’s treatment of the Rohingya prompted the U.S. to sanction top military leaders, damaged Suu Kyi’s international reputation and soured the investment climate. They are denied basic rights including citizenship, while the authorities -- including previous elected ones -- have refused to even recognize them as Rohingya and called them "Bengali, ” which they consider derogatory. The U.S. and U.K. imposed a fresh round of sanctions targeting Myanmar’s military on Thursday by blacklisting the largest business entities it controls. "Everybody will have equal rights -- as I say in principle -- no one should be left behind based on culture based on color, based on the race or based on religion, ” he said.

Malaysian couple steps into the heat of winter in Beijing
It was during our stay in Beijing many years ago but the memory is still fresh today. It was winter and the temperature was sub-zero but my friend, being the adventurous type, insisted that we go for the unusual experience. However, it was not the case of just jumping into the hot water to escape the freezing cold. Yet, you feel so good, submerged in the hot water. That was a most unforgettable experience that until today we never fail to mention it whenever we talked about our Beijing experience.

China erasing H&M from Internet amid Xinjiang backlash
State media accused H&M and other brands of improperly profiting from China while criticising it. That prompted Chinese retailers and Internet companies to distance themselves from the Swedish retailer, though other brands still were available on e-commerce platforms. South Korean athletic shoe brand FILA said Friday the company buys cotton from Xinjiang and will keep doing so. H&M's announcement last year that it no longer would use Xinjiang cotton cited the BCI's move to stop licensing cotton from the region because it was difficult to trace how it was produced. It was unclear why the party targeted H&M, whose expression of concern about Xinjiang was similar to that of other companies.

LBS founder passes away
PETALING JAYA: LBS Bina Group Bhd founder and former chairman Datuk Seri Lim Bock Seng (pic) has passed away. Bock Seng, 90, had been chairman of LBS since Dec 6,2001, until his retirement from the position on March 1,2021. LBS executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Hock San (pic below) said the company was deeply saddened by the loss of its founder Bock Seng, who was also Hock San’s father. “Bock Seng’s visionary leadership and focus on innovation has positioned LBS for continued long-term growth – a remarkable legacy that will benefit future generations, ” LBS said. The group said Bock Seng’s funeral would take place at the Nirvana Centre Kuala Lumpur from today.
