JOHOR BARU: A married couple decided to quit their jobs as a fireman and a bank officer to venture into the food industry by making and selling burgers. “I have been doing this since 2014 and slowly I franchised our products and burgers which are different. Nur Khalidah was a bank officer for six years before quitting her job at the end of 2019. “We used our savings to start our business and with perseverance and patience, our business is growing well, ” she said. “About 40% of those under our franchise programme have lost their jobs in Singapore due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hang works in the Department of Microbiology and Pathogens under the Military Medical Research Institute and is also a lecturer in the Medical Microbiology Faculty at the Vietnam Military Medical Academy. Every day, the 37-year-old from central Ha Tinh province goes back and forth between the Military Medical Research Institute and the Vietnam Military Medical Academy. They only had a month to manufacture the kit, making it a time when the research team “ate and slept with the virus”, she said. When the Covid-19 pandemic emergedin Vietnam, the Vietnam Military Medical Academy’s research team was tasked with making the test kit only a week before the Tat (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Any way the wind blows, Binder secures his podium spot
PETALING JAYA: South African Darryn Binder ended his first race for Petronas Sprinta Racing on the podium after finishing third at a windy Losail International Circuit in Doha. A perfect start to the race saw Binder take the holeshot and maintain his lead throughout the opening lap. 1,911 GPs have registered for Phase 2 & 3 of National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme
PUTRAJAYA (March 29): A total of 1,911 private medical practitioners (GPs) have registered to be involved in Phases 2 and 3 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba. "To maximise access to vaccine distribution more widely to the people, more GPs are called upon to get involved," he said in a statement today. Interested GPs must register with ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) through the website www.protecthealth.com.my. Through the website, GPs can obtain information related to vaccination models, scope of work, requirements, payment rates and payment methods. The first phase of the vaccination exercise from February to April involves 500,000 frontliners, mostly health workers.
