AFTER the posturing that women witness like clockwork on March 8 every year (International Women’s Day), some of us are left outraged at the lack of women representation in our government, boardrooms and committees. A quota for women in strata management committees might mean change in other tiers of government as well. While reliable, their views are largely drowned out due to predominantly male management committees. Having a quota for women in strata management committees might help mitigate that problem. Could this mean that more women in strata management committees could translate to more charitable and self-sustainable communities?

SINGAPORE/SEOUL/JAKARTA (March 31): As Brazil, Russia and Turkey lift interest rates to ward off inflation and currency pressures, investors are beginning to prod Asia's central banks to follow suit, setting up a potential showdown with countries keeping rates at record lows. The moves also open a gap against benchmark US short-term rates, which have barely moved and, now that Brazil, Russia and Turkey have made unexpectedly bold hikes, leave Asia's central banks lagging both their peers and the market. "Asia central banks now need to be a bit more cautious," said Sonal Varma, chief economist for Asia ex-Japan at Nomura in Singapore, with historically low rates in the region and "choppy" global capital flows. Asia's central bankers have so far held firm, and, to be sure, a slew of investors and advisors think rates markets have run too far ahead. "In my view, investors are drawing incorrect parallels between now and recent past episodes of rate hike cycles," said Nader Naeimi, head of dynamic markets at AMP Capital.

(Reuters) - Spain coach Luis Enrique said there is no shame in struggling against lesser international sides as his team have in their opening World Cup qualifiers, emphasising their 6-0 win over Germany last year inflated expectations. "After a one-off game such as the Germany fixture, which was like a party, people began to think our team was a winning machine," Luis Enrique told reporters. "After beating a global powerhouse there was a sense of euphoria but we warned everyone it wouldn't be like that in every game. No-one wins easily these days, it takes a lot of effort to win a game." He also recalled that the Spain team which lifted the 2010 World Cup and consecutive European Championships won many of their matches by a single goal and said he would not reconsider his tactical or selection decisions due to media criticism.
