FG reveals how Emefiele allegedly procured 43 vehicles in 2 years
Emefiele, who faces a six-count charge totaling ₦1.6 billion, appeared in court on Friday, vehemently denying the allegations. The charges, initially comprising 20 counts amounting to ₦6.5 billion, were revised to six counts, focusing on the contentious vehicle acquisitions. According to the amended charge sheet, Emefiele is accused of utilising his position to confer a corrupt advantage on Sa’adatu Ramallan Yaro, a Central Bank of Nigeria staff. 80-year-old woman dies in Lagos building collapse
Tragedy struck on Thursday morning when a yet-to-be-identified woman said to be 80 years old died as the staircase of a storey building caved in in the Oyingbo area of Lagos. The Lagos State Building Control Agency while condoling with the victims of the collapsed building blamed the non-compliance on the vacation notice on the part of occupants of the building. A source in the area said the building was an old building and needed to be vacated for repairs. “The agency responded to distress calls concerning the above and upon arrival, discovered a storey building in a state of partial collapse. “Unfortunately, an old woman died from the impact of the partial collapse,” LASEMA said in a statement.

Army detonates 642 unexploded bombs from Ikeja cantonment
The Nigerian Army on Thursday said it has so far disposed of a total of 642 unexploded bombs recovered from the Ikeja Military Cantonment. The service under an operation code named, “Exercise Clean Sweep” commenced the recovery and disposal of bombs from the cantonment on October 10, 2023. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu said the service was set for the final disposal of the unexploded bombs on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Nigerian Army Range in Owode Ajilete, Ogun State. The statement read, “The clearance of remnants of unexploded ordnances from the site of the 2002 Ikeja Cantonment Bomb Blast commenced on Tuesday 10 October 2023 in an Exercise codenamed “EXERCISE CLEAN SWEEP”. Accordingly, there would be a movement of UXOs from Ikeja Cantonment to NA Range, Owode Ajilete.

Sultan calls for peace prayers in Gaza, other conflict zones
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has called for prayers for peace in Gaza and other parts of the world experiencing conflict or some form of crisis. Two feared dead as police, Shi’ites clash in Kaduna
Some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria otherwise known as “Shi’ites” on Thursday, stormed the street of Kaduna protesting the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. However, the Kaduna Police Command confirmed to The PUNCH on the telephone that only one person was killed during the clash with the Shi’ite members. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, blamed the death on IMN members, whom he described as a violent sect. At least 25 dead in Chinese coal mining company fire accident
At least 25 people died in a fire on Thursday in the building of a coal mining company in the northwest Chinese province of Shanxi, Chinese news agency, Xinhua reports. More than 60 people were evacuated during the rescue efforts, which were still underway.
