Earlier, Tata had deleted the puncture kit from the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. Tata Motors has stopped offering a puncture repair kit with the Punch. Earlier, Tata had deleted the puncture kit from the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. While these cars do come with a spare tyre, a puncture repair kit offers an additional layer of safety, allowing customers to quickly repair the puncture in case of an emergency. There’s no official word from Tata explaining the reason behind the deletion of the puncture kit from the standard package.

NUC approves eight science education programmes for Confluence varsity
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of eight (8) science and technology education programmes at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State. The University Registrar, Olufunke Hudson, who conveyed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said the programmes are to run in a dedicated academic unit, the Faculty of Science and Technology Education. She listed the new undergraduate programmes to include biology education, chemistry education, mathematics education, physics education, computer science education, geography education, library and information science, and technology education, among other programmes offered by the university. “It is therefore a compelling necessity that the quality of secondary and technical education be strengthened to enable them to perform the expected role in the education sector,” Hudson stated. “Candidates who are interested in any of the university’s programmes can change their first-choice institution to Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara,” Hudson stated.

Court stops sale of Novare/Shoprite malls in Nigeria
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has restrained a South African company, Novare, and its subsidiaries, from selling off their assets in Nigeria. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Novare is the owner of retail malls, including Shoprite malls, in the country. Justice Peter Kekemeke gave the interim order following an ex-parte motion moved to the effect by counsel to the applicants, Darlington Ozurumba. Others include Novare Mall, Apo, Abuja; Novare Central Mall, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, and all other Novare Malls under construction in Nigeria, pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice. Justice Kekemeke consequently granted the order of interim injunction after Mr Ozurumba moved the motion on 6 November.

15 useless airports and Nigeria’s concrete democracy
In Nigeria, concrete democracy manifests in the building of bridges, flyovers, foot bridges, airports, highways, stadia, public buildings, universities, public transport systems, all of which are of minimal productive value. Since 1999, some 15 airports built by state governments of Ogun, Bayelsa, Osun, Delta, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Anambra, Abia, Yobe, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Edo, Gombe, and Jigawa have (expectedly) been underperforming. Concrete projects like that are thus mainly self-directed. How many people in the whole of the 15 states that built these airports earn enough salaries to even buy a plane ticket? All over Nigeria, projects like those 15 airports consume money without returns.

TTP blames LASTMA over gridlock on Lagos port access road
When Nigerian Tribune sought clarifications from the Managing Director of the TTP, Jama Onwubuariri on why articulated vehicles have taken over the Apapa-Oshodi express road, he explained that LASTMA is supposed to enforce a no parking order on that road. “LASTMA is supposed to enforce a no parking order on that road, but they haven’t done that,” the TTP boss told Nigerian Tribune. Motorists have continued to lament over the traffic chaos that has persisted along the Apapa-Oshodi expressway which leads to the Tin-Can Island Port in Lagos. The traffic snarl which sometimes stretches from the Kirikiri to second Rainbow axis of the road, has crippled vehicular movement along the road, thereby forcing many to abandon the road for alternative access roads to the port. FG meets aggrieved ex-servicemen, promises improved welfare
The Federal Government has met with aggrieved military veterans, following their threats to picket the Defence Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence. He stated that the FG was working on an existing structure that would be all-inclusive, regarding the welfare of the veterans and their families. Speaking on the security debarment allowance, the minister stated that the SDA would be paid in two trenches adding that palliatives would be made available to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal. Also, the National Health Insurance scheme is being reviewed to cover the Veterans among others. He said the Minister set up a five-man committee to engage with the ministry on the realisation of improved welfare for the veterans.

Oyo LGSPB reiterates commitment to pensioners’ welfare
The Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of retirees from both public primary schools and local government. Punch review – queer coming-of-age story packs emotional left hook
It sounds like the biggest film cliche ever, but New Zealand film-maker Welby Ings does something subtle and tender with this in his sensitive feature debut. Oosterhof’s effortlessly persuasive performance shows his gentleness and curiosity about the world – Jim passes for jock but has a poetic soul and an emotional life too. Whetu is bravely and defiantly queer in the face of town bullies; there’s homophobic hate crime that’s upsetting, but to me didn’t feel gratuitous or exploitative. Punch is a film that draws on two traditions: gay coming-of-age drama and sports movie, perhaps leaning more to the former with its dreamy wistful cinematography and nostalgic mood. Still, it packs an emotional punch; the delicacy of its feelings is compelling.
