Elderly Ukrainian couple left behind in bombed out eastern village
NEVELSKE, Ukraine — Elderly couple Kateryna and Dmytro Shklyar are among the last residents of Nevelske, a village near the frontlines in east Ukraine where years of fighting have left them without running water, electricity or neighbors. Nevelske sits some 25 km (15 miles) from Donetsk, the biggest city in the contested eastern Ukraine region where Russia has backed separatist rebels fighting government troops since 2014. Hong Kong embraces cooler weekends as Cold Weather Warning issued
Hong Kong Observatory issued the Cold Weather Warning on Saturday afternoon and reminded citizens to put on warm clothes. The warning was issued at 4.20pm today and the station said Hong Kong should also expect cold weather in the next few days. It will be a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories and on high ground. Citizens should avoid prolonged exposure to wintry winds to avoid getting cold and having adverse health effects. The station urged not to light fires indoors as a means to keep warm as well.

Mlang suspends COVID-19 jabs after 9 vaccinators show symptoms
KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato, Philippines — Mlang town in this province suspended COVID-19 vaccinations, starting Thursday, Jan. 27, until Jan. 30, after nine of its vaccinators showed mild symptoms of the disease, according to the municipal vaccination coordinator, Perla Piang. Since the vaccinators had to be isolated, COVID-19 vaccinations were suspended in all hubs. He said that the town’s target was to fully vaccinate at least 70,000 residents so it could achieve herd immunity. As of Friday, Mlang had 81 active COVID-19 cases. Residents of two Kwai Chung Estate blocks set free
Residents of Ying Kwai House and Ha Kwai House at Kwai Chung Estate were finally set free on Saturday after days of being locked up in their own homes. A man living in Ying Kwai was allowed to leave at about 6am before dawn for he had to go to work. I had no idea how sad it was to be jailed," a man living in Ying Kwai House surnamed Ma said. As for a couple living in Ha Kwai House, their priority was to walk their dog. Meanwhile, the five-day lockdown was declared at Ha Kwai House on Monday (Jan 24) night.
