Hemas Consumer, together with the John Keells Group’s social enterprise project- Plasticcycle completed the expansion of the project’s plastic collection bin network to 25 new collection points in the financial year 2020/21. Unwholesome practices of disposing plastic waste have posed enough threat to biodiversity and animals and it is high time that we looked into this matter. Plasticcycle operates within a well-planned mechanism where the designated post consumption plastic waste collector- will collect the plastic waste from collection points across the island and will be handing over to the recycling centers for recycling. Hemas being highly environment conscious identifies the need to increase plastic recycling to tackle the plastic pollution and continues to extend its support to drive the Plasticcycle project forward. In combating the plastic waste, individual efforts lead to a bigger impact from which the entire country can imagine a plastic-free environment.

This alternative credit evaluation process will enable tech companies to access funding without the need to rely on personal collateral”. Seylan Bank, DFCC Bank, Union Bank, and NDB bank have already expressed their willingness to consider the new framework when assessing technology companies for debt financing. But most tech companies are faced with difficulties in obtaining loans due to a lack of physical collateral. Moreover, the pandemic has forced many challenges for tech companies, derailing the growth to some extent.

Humayun Farhat and Saeed Anwar fought back, adding 69 in eight overs, and Pakistan were well ahead of the asking-rate after 15 overs, with 108. Tail-enders Shoaib Malik and Waqar Younis saw them past 200, but once Muttiah Muralitharan removed them, the innings subsided with eight overs to spare.

The World Anti-Counterfeiting Day was established by the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group (GACG) to address the risks and damage caused by the counterfeit and piracy trade. As recently as in 2019 the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimates that trade in global ‘fake goods’ was a hefty 3.3% of overall world trade. Accordingly, Sri Lanka has a robust IPR framework which recognizes the importance of effective enforcement of IPR for the protection of consumers and brand owners. I strongly believe that inculcating IPR protection at secondary education levels will help in educating young minds on the importance of IPR protection, as they are the future generation of inventors, creators and leaders of our nation. Moreover, as the country focuses on increasing international trade and investment, IPR protection, along with investment protection, is of the utmost importance to ensure the development of the local economy.
