The head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, met Malta’s ambassador to Libya, Franklin Aquilina, at the bureau’s headquarters to discuss strengthening communication and institutional cooperation between the two sides. According to a statement, the meeting focused on ways to develop cooperation mechanisms between the Libyan Audit Bureau and its Maltese counterpart, including the exchange of expertise in financial oversight. The two sides also discussed efforts to promote transparency and good governance through technical and professional cooperation in auditing and monitoring practices. During the meeting, the importance of supporting the work of Libya’s High Committee for Combating Corruption was also highlighted, along with the need to unify national and international efforts in this area to enhance institutional efficiency and serve the public interest. Both sides agreed to designate a joint point of contact to begin practical steps towards cooperation, including direct coordination with Malta’s oversight bodies, particularly the Maltese National Audit Office, with the aim of exchanging expertise and building professional partnerships to strengthen oversight performance.
