TLDRJames Daley, founder of Fairer Finance, has launched a £1.5bn class action lawsuit against Apple, alleging that Apple Pay's hidden fees and anti-competitive practices have increased costs for 50 million UK consumers. The lawsuit claims that Apple Pay has been the only contactless payment service for iPhone users in the UK for the past decade, allowing Apple to charge fees that were passed on to banks and then to all customers, regardless of their device. Apple has dismissed the lawsuit as misguided, stating that Apple Pay is a secure payment option and that banks benefit from offering it to their customers. The case will be decided by the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

I never imagined I would need to learn what my legal responsibilities were if federal law enforcement showed up at my workplace. One day, an ICE agent pulled into our parking lot, near an entrance where trucks come in and out. Enforcement matters, borders matter, and law matters. “Door to door” is not legal language. But it is emotional language — the language of fear.

NewsWith the advent of climate change, many were concerned about the fate of the Amazon rainforest. Scientists turned their attention to this ecosystem to see how it would react to the massive increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The most optimistic scenario of allAfter 44 years of observation, the researchers noted that the Amazon was not dying a slow death. The second possibility was that, conversely, this mass of carbon dioxide would benefit those under the canopy, who would grow better, while the giants would suffer.
