High school seniors in various parts of the state will have new pathways to the Cal State system for fall 2025. Cal State East Bay announced partnerships with the San Leandro and Hayward Unified School Districts to provide guaranteed admission to students who have completed A-G coursework and sustained at least a 2.5 GPA. High school students in these districts will be notified by the campus if they are guaranteed admission — and will then have to follow through the normal application process and formally enroll. “This type of personal outreach is about more than eligibility — it’s about belonging, about knowing that there is a place for them in their community,” Sonal Patel, San Leandro Unified School District assistant superintendent of educational services, referring to the personalized nature of the admissions offers. “We want our students to feel welcomed and valued as they take this next important step in their educational journey.”

Donald Trump has won the presidential election with a sweeping set of victories across the battleground states as voters emphatically backed his vision to remake America. The 78-year-old, currently nine votes over the 270 electoral college vote threshold, is also on course to become the first Republican to win the popular vote since George W. Bush in 2004 in a remarkable comeback. He took to the stage in Florida to declare victory in the early hours in the morning, declaring that he had won an “unprecedented and powerful mandate”. Appearing in Palm Beach alongside his family, running mate JD Vance, and UFC head Dana White, Trump told supporters: “This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. Trump energised the black and Latino vote, as well as swathes of blue collar workers, with promises on the economy and immigration, clinching victory despite a criminal conviction and outstanding indictments for attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.

I'd not heard of him before but he's a direct descendant of Francis Bacon and developed the back-up power systems for Apollo 11 whilst working in Cambridge. The fuel cells he developed also created electricity for communications and air conditioning. The efficiency and high energy density of the fuel cells played such an integral role in the success of the Apollo missions that President Richard Nixon told Bacon: “Without you, Tom, we wouldn’t have gotten to the moon.”After they returned to Earth, astronauts Neil Armstong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins met Bacon at Downing Street and presented him with a signed photograph of Armstrong’s famous first “small step” on the moon. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2024/nov/02/recognition-at-last-for-tom-bacoA brilliant achievement from someone who believed in his ideas enough to start a company and progress from there. But during that time the only group this Labour Government’s popularity has increased with is criminals. The Government’s scheme was introduced to create space inside jails in England and Wales as they reached capacity. Ms Davies-Jones later said Labour was the “party of law and order” after Mr Jenrick argued the Government should be building more prisons. Mr Jenrick (Newark) said: “There were exemptions in the previous government’s scheme, but the key thing is we need to get on and build more prisons. Since coming into office we have returned more than 1,500 foreign offenders and I am pleased to say that we are currently on track to remove more foreign offenders this year than at any time in recent years.”Share this: FacebookTwitterEmail

Queen Camilla, the wife of Britain’s King Charles III, has withdrawn from two scheduled engagements this week after contracting a chest infection, Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday. The news, which comes after the couple returned from a royal tour in Australia and Samoa last month, means the queen will not attend two events on Thursday, including one at Westminster Abbey. In a statement, the palace said that the Queen “is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest. With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week.”The queen “apologizes to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result” of the cancellations, the palace said. She is currently resting at home under medical supervision.

Modi And Trudeau Denounce Violence At Hindu Temple Diplomatic tensions spike as clashes erupt outside Brampton temple amid protests for KhalistanViolent clashes erupted recently outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir located in Brampton, Ontario, rekindling tensions between Canada and India, as both nations grapple with allegations and accusations of orchestrated violence. This violent episode was marked by the presence of flags associated with the Khalistan movement, which advocates for separate Sikh governance from India. Trudeau echoed similar sentiments, labeling the violence "unacceptable" and affirming the right for every Canadian to practice their faith freely and without fear. While Canada accuses India of orchestrated violence, India vehemently denies these claims, branding them as politically motivated. The Coalition of Hindus of Canada, a far-right group, proactively staged protests, denouncing perceived threats and attacks on Hindu places of worship.

The outcome of the upcoming US Presidential election holds significant implications for employment-based immigration, particularly concerning H-1B visas, highlighted a report by the JM Financial. The report noted that if Donald Trump were to regain power, his administration's previous restrictive policies could resurface, potentially leading to increased scrutiny and denial rates for H-1B and L-1 visas.During his first term, initial denial rates for H-1B visas surged from 4 per cent to 17 per cent, while L-1 visa denials rose from 12 per cent to 28 per cent. This trend could re-emerge, impacting IT services firms that heavily rely on these visas. The report said "In his first term, Trump, through his executive order E.O.13788 "Buy American and Hire American", increased restrictions on H-1B visas". (Join our ETNRI WhatsApp channel for all the latest updates)However, the landscape has changed since Trump's first term. Current analyses indicate that H-1B wages are already 25-35 per cent above prevailing wages, making claims of wage suppression difficult to substantiate. The report outlined that "we believe Trump's Presidency, while headline negative, will have limited impact on India IT Services players. Harris Presidency, on the other hand, will largely be status quo, in our view".The evolving legislative landscape, including bipartisan bills aimed at reforming the immigration process, could also play a role in shaping the future of high-skilled immigration in the US.
