Co-hosts England may play two games away from Wembley at Euro 2028. Wembley will not host any last-16 games, meaning England would also face a match away from the national stadium if they reached the first knockout round. England played all their matches at Wembley at Euro 1996 as they reached the semi-finals of their own tournament. They also hosted games at Euro 2020, which was split across several countries, and played all their games at Wembley apart from the quarter-final victory over Ukraine in Rome. Dublin's Aviva Stadium and Hampden Park in Glasgow will also host games.

A remote and private estate of King Charles III will soon become the new home of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, the British monarch’s younger brother disgraced over his friendship with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sandringham was the private home of the last six British monarchs and sits amid parkland, gardens and working farms about 110 miles north of London. It does after all share the name of the dukedom that Andrew used to have — a constant reminder of what’s transpired. As everyone knows, moving house is an ordeal at the best of times, regardless of the size of the dwelling. With Christmas looming, the likely time and effort is no bad thing for a royal family seeking to isolate Andrew.

EY Item Club has lifted its forecast for UK economic growth in 2025 to 1.5%, supported by more than £1 trillion in public spending, though it warned that momentum will fade next year as fiscal tightening and potential tax rises weigh on activity, the Times reported on Monday. The think tank, which uses the same economic modelling as the Treasury, had previously expected growth of 1.0% for 2025 but said the economy has ‘displayed greater momentum’ in the first half of the year. UK output rose 0.7% during the period, the fastest pace among G7 economies. However, the EY Item Club warned that the effect of higher public spending will fade in 2026, when tighter fiscal policy and potential tax rises could slow growth. It now expects GDP to expand by 0.9% next year before edging up to 1.3% in 2027.

Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori tweeted yesterday:BREAKING: Private Eye exposes Elbit's lobby group, CMS Strategic, which planted a story in The Times falsely claiming Palestine Action was under investigation for Iranian funding. The fabricated story came out days before Parliament voted to proscribe Palestine Action. The story, which first appeared in the Times in June, claimed that the Home Office was investigating Palestine Action over possible Iranian funding. Of course, the Times didn’t bother to include any quotes from Home Office officials regarding the investigation into Palestine Action. Not exactly an unbiased source on a group like Palestine Action, but hey – this is the Times we’re talking about.
