HÀ NỘI — Thai conglomerate SCG witnessed a business recovery in the second quarter of this year due to swift adjustments to operational plans amid a slowing ASEAN and Chinese economy, the company announced on Wednesday. In Q2 alone, SCG reported revenue from sales of US$3.7 billion and its profit excluding extra items of $154 million, up 14 per cent quarter-on-quarter, largely due to dividend income from the investment business. Despite this, the company's profit for the period increased by 31 per cent year-on-year to $726 million, primarily due to the one-time gain from fair value adjustment of investment. Of these, the total assets of SCG in ASEAN (ex-Thailand) were US$ 11.9 billion, or 45 per cent of SCG’s total consolidated assets.

The report said Vietnam’s economic growth slowed from 8% in 2022 to 3.7% in the first half of 2023, noting that a challenging external environment and weaker domestic demand is leading to a slowdown in economic growth in Vietnam. The report’s special chapter studies Vietnam’s public investment management and how it can contribute to the goal of climbing the income ladder.

24-NQ/TW on proactively responding to climate change, strengthening natural resource management and environmental protection was issued by the Party Central Committee in 2013. The resolution set out the Party’s major policies in responding to climate change, resource management and environmental protection in Việt Nam. The capacity of natural disaster prevention, combat and climate change response has increased. HÀ NỘI – Starting August 7, Napas cardholders will be able to utilise their Mobile Banking application to perform interbank cash withdrawals from ATMs by scanning the VietQR code, eliminating the need for a physical card. During the launch event on Monday, Nguyễn Quang Minh, the General Director of the National Payment Corporation of Việt Nam (NAPAS), announced that NAPAS has collaborated with member banks to successfully develop an interbank ATM withdrawal service using the VietQR code (VietQRCash). Transaction limits and fees align with the current regulations for ATM withdrawals using NAPAS cards. Minh said: "Upon the successful launch with the initial eight banks, NAPAS is poised to extend the connection of the VietQRCash service across the entire market within this year. Among various electronic payment methods, the utilisation of QR codes demonstrated the most substantial growth, increasing by nearly 136 per cent in terms of transaction volume.

In late July, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved the export of two vaccines produced by the NAVETCO Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company and AVAC Vietnam JSC. According to local competent agencies, up to 650,000 doses of the vaccines have been tested on pigs in 40 cities and provinces, with an efficacy rate of 95%. Vietnam has become the first country to successfully develop and produce the two vaccines against African swine fever, the disease that first appeared in Africa in 1921 with a mortality rate of up to 100%./.
