Vietnam, Iran have huge potential to forge cooperation: ambassador

Right after the success of the Islamic Revolution , on February 13, 1979, Vietnam sent a congratulatory message to and recognised the Islamic Republic of Iran . In 1991, Iran opened its embassy in Hanoi. Six years later, Vietnam did the same in Tehran.Ngoc said that the two countries share many similarities and supplementary advantages, enabling them to strengthen their friendship for the interest of the two peoples as well as for peace and stability in the two countries and the world.He highlighted the sound political-diplomatic relations between the two countries as well as the expanding bilateral economic and trade ties, along with fruitful cooperation in culture, education, science and technology.At the most difficult time during the COVID-19 pandemic , the Government and people of Vietnam were happy to be able to share their resources with other countries, including Iran, he noted, emphasising that the warm sentiments that the two peoples have given to each other as well as practical joint activities have contributed to the laying of a firm foundation for the growth of friendship between the two countries.Ngoc underlined the need for the Governments, ministries and sectors of the two sides to take practical actions to further deepen the bilateral ties, including the organisation of the 10th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee and the seventh Political Consultations between them to realise the political determination of leaders of the two countries.For his part, Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari said that the ceremony is a good chance for the two sides to look back at the 50-year development of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.This is also an opportunity for the two sides to honour achievements that have shaped the bilateral ties and headed to the future with stronger cooperation for common prosperity, he stated.Nguyen Van Pha, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Judicial Committee and President of the Vietnam-Iran Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, also underlined contributions that the group, founded in 2009, has made to the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and its future plan to continue reinforcing the bilateral friendship and partnership./.

Five banks earned profits of more than VNĐ10 trillion in H1 2023
HÀ NỘI — Five banks in Việt Nam recorded a pre-tax profit of more than VNĐ10 trillion (US$422 million) in the first six months of this year, financial statements of the banks showed. Vietcombank remained the champion in terms of profit in the country’s banking industry, with H1 2023's pre-tax profit of VNĐ20.5 trillion (US$866 million), up 18 per cent over the same period last year. All four of the top banks recorded positive profit growth in the second quarter of 2023 and H1 2023. Techcombank was the fifth most profitable bank with more than VNĐ11.2 trillion (US$473 million), down 20 per cent over the same period last year. The next five banks following Techcombank in the Top 10 saw pre-tax profits of nearly VNĐ10 trillion (US$422 million) for ACB, VNĐ6.07 trillion (US$456 million) for SHB, VNĐ5.64 trillion (US$238 million) for VIB, VNĐ5.48 trillion (US$231 million) HDBank, and more than VNĐ5.1 trillion (US$215 million) for VPBank.

30 businesses receive assistance to continue social impact missions

Shares volatile, but liquidity increases
HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam's stock market is experiencing a notably volatile phase with continuous fluctuations in the indexes. Similarly, the VN30 Index which tracks the top 30 shares by market cap and liquidity saw a decline of 0.86 per cent, with 22 stocks experiencing a drop. Liquidity increased, however, with more than one billion shares worth VNĐ21.6 trillion (US$911.4 million) being traded, up 10 per cent in volume and 13 per cent in value over Wednesday’s levels. In addition, the electricity and food & beverage industries also displayed a relatively balanced correlation between increases and decreases. More than 101 million shares worth VNĐ1.8 trillion were exchanged here, up 5 per cent in volume and 10 per cent in value compared to the previous session.

Vietnam condemns tearing of Vietnamese national flag in Philippines
Hanoi (VNA) - The act of damaging the national flag of Vietnam is an insult to the feelings of the Vietnamese people and must be strongly condemned, said Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang.
