According to VITAS, the four biggest importers of Vietnamese textiles and garment in 2023 are the US with a turnover of over 11 billion USD, Japan about 3 billion USD, the Republic of Korea 2.43 billion USD, and the EU 2.9 billion USD. Diversifying markets, products, customers, and partners is a way for Vietnam's textile and garment industry to reduce its reliance on large markets. New markets have started importing products from Vietnam, helping to affirm Vietnam’s position in the global market, Giang emphasised./.

This is the second time Vietnam has been elected to the most important executive body for culture of UNESCO. It will join 20 other member states of the committee to supervise the implementation of the convention, protect, preserve, and bring into play the values of 1,199 world heritage elements around the globe./.

HÀ NỘI — Retail petrol prices were revised down from 3pm on November 23 in the latest adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance. Specifically, the retail prices of E5RON 92 and RON 95-III were cut by VNĐ584 and VNĐ506 to VNĐ21,690 (US$0.89) and VNĐ23,024 ($0.94) per litre, respectively. Meanwhile, those of diesel, kerosene and mazut were reduced to VNĐ20,283 per litre, VNĐ20,944 per litre, and VNĐ15,638 per kilogram, respectively. The ministries decided not to deduct prices of different types of gasoline and oil for the national gasoline price stabilisation fund and refrain from using the fund. Since the beginning of the year, domestic fuel prices have seen 33 adjustments, with 18 up, 11 down, and four unchanged.

Securing 121 of the 171 valid votes, Việt Nam ranked second among the nine elected states from five regions, said the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The election took place within the framework of the 24th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (World Heritage Convention) in Paris. The World Heritage Convention is the one with the biggest membership in UNESCO, 194. Therefore, candidates have to face strong competition to be elected one of the 21 member states of the World Heritage Committee.

Bilateral trade relations between Việt Nam and Singapore in digital and green economy are expected to further deepen. This February, Việt Nam and Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on green and digital economic partnership to deepen the bilateral co-operation in the two emerging areas. It is better for us to work together both bilaterally as well as regionally, even within ASEAN where we have the digital economy framework. So I think digitalisation and the green economy are some of areas of collaboration between Singapore and Việt Nam. HÀ NỘI — Sugar could become more expensive during the remaining months of 2023, according to the Vietnam Sugarcane and Sugar Association (VSSA). Data from the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV) showed global sugar prices had reached US$161 per tonne in nearly November, a 150 per cent increase compared to the beginning of the year, marking the highest price in the last 12 years. Lam Sơn Sugar reported its highest growth, VNĐ471 billion in revenue and VNĐ17 billion in profit, a 55 per cent and 113 per cent increase, respectively compared to the same period in 2022. In an earlier development, Lam Sơn Sugar announced a plan to import 40,000 tonnes of raw sugar this year, as part of an effort to meet their annual target. They advised sugar producers to capitalise on high prices to strengthen domestic sugarcane production and rely less on imports.
