Badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh (Photo: VNA)- Vietnam's top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh made a great surprise at the 2024 German Open Badminton Championship by defeating former world champion Ratchanok Intanon in the quarterfinals of the women's singles event on March 2 (Vietnam time).This is the first victory of Linh, ranked 23th in the world, over Ratchanok Intanon, who is currently ranked 14th in the world and won the World Championships in 2013 and held the position of world's No.1 in women's singles in 2016.With a high level of confidence, Linh concluded the game with a 2-0 victory overall, enabling her to go further at the tournament.In the semi-finals, Linh will play Kim Ga Eun from the Republic of Korea, who is ranked 13th in the world and No. 2 seed of the 2024 German Badminton Open. Thailand 's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is eyeing foreign investment in cloud computing with a bigger goal than making Thailand a digital hub , according to Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, a Thai trade representative. Narumon said Srettha was planning to develop Thailand’s digital ecosystem and infrastructure to get the country ready for the 5th industrial revolution (5IR). Thailand’s 4th industrial revolution has been taking place since 2010, when the country started embracing digital economy technologies such as Internet of Things, robotics, blockchain, and biotechnology. Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai government plans to deploy 30 aircraft nationwide for cloud-seeding operations to induce artificial rain to battle air pollution and ease dry weather conditions in the main crop-growing areas. The annual royal rainmaking programme began on February 29, with seven centres set up across the country to coordinate efforts in all the 77 provinces for operations in March and April. This year’s operations will rely on 24 aircrafts from the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation and six jets from the Royal Thai Air Force. Agriculture Minister Thamanat Prompow said that rainmaking is necessary to ease the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector and prevent hailstorms and forest fires in some regions of the country. The artificial rain will also ease persistent pollution problems such as smog and unhealthy levels of fine particulate matter known as PM2.5.
