Hà Nội ensemble plays music of Japanese anime
HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Ensemble & Friends will perform a concert at the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange on March 15. The concert entitled Ghibli Music Night features 18 music pieces from Japanese anime by Studio Ghibli, including My Neighbor Totoro, The Cat Returns and Whisper of the Heart. Hà Nội Ensemble consists of young artists and teachers from Việt Nam National Academy of Music. They have participated and performed regularly in concerts and music festivals as well as many cultural exchange programmes in Việt Nam and abroad. Ghibli Music Night is the 24th Garage Concert, a series of concerts held at the garage and courtyard of the centre aiming at providing musical diversity to Hà Nội through the introduction of Japanese music played by distinguished musicians.

Electricity bill shocks caused by changes in meter reading date: EVN
HÀ NỘI — The recent electricity bill shocks in Hà Nội are caused by changes in the meter reading date, Vietnam Electricity, Hà Nội (EVNHANOI) said. EVNHANOI said that the increase is due to the change in meter reading date to the end of the month, starting from February. This means that the meter reading date for February is February 29th. EVNHANOI said that unifying the meter reading date on the last day of the month throughout the city will make electricity bill calculation more accurate and transparent. EVNHANOI completed the unification of the meter reading date one year earlier than the deadline set by the Government.

Gold bars near VNĐ81 million mark, rings low on supply
HÀ NỘI Domestic gold prices increased today, nearing VNĐ81 million per tael for SJC gold bars and 67.7 million per tael for SJC gold rings, with both running low on the supply side, following a sharp global price hike pushing trading to around 2,112.8 USD per ounce (1 ounce=0.75 tael). Meanwhile, SJC gold prices are quoted at VNĐ78.7-80.72 million per tael, up VNĐ300,000 per tael compared to the previous session. SJC 9999 gold rings continue to set new records, trading at VNĐ66.5 million per tael for sellers and VNĐ67.7 million per tael for buyers. PNJ gold was bought at VNĐ66.5 million per tael and sold at VNĐ67.7 million per tael by gold shops, increasing by VNĐ900,000 per tael and 850,000 VND per tael, respectively, compared to the previous session. However, domestic gold prices are still more than VNĐ17 million per tael higher than global price.

Indonesia imports 300,000 tonnes of rice from Thailand, Pakistan

Bayu Krisnamurthi, head of state logistics and food distributor Bulog, said in on March 3 that the imported rice was still on its way to Indonesia. This import will increase rice stocks in Bulog’s warehouses, currently at 1.3 million tonnes. Krisnamurthi explained that Bulog imports rice based on a careful assessment of domestic rice production and demand, adding that Bulog is subject to the supervision of the Indonesian Audit Board (BPK) at every operational step./.
