The US$56m deal was signed at the Africa Pavilion at the Summer Fancy Foods Trade Show and is financed with a structured trade facility by EAS Advisors and Scipion Capital. The South African table grapes will ship in the first week of November 2024 and continue through April 2025, filling the gaps of the US domestic growing season. USATD will facilitate the entire transaction, providing an end-to-end solution that bridges the gap between retailer needs in the US and African production. “Through this deal, we have harnessed the agro export potential of African nations,” he said. USATD also signed a memorandum of understanding with Baylis Emerging Markets, an Africa-focused investment manager, to further expand trade and investment opportunities between the US and African nations.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea test-fired two ballistic missile Monday but one of them possibly flew abnormally, South Korea’s military said, a day after the North vowed “offensive and overwhelming” responses to a new U.S. military drill with South Korea and Japan. North Korea typically test-fires missiles toward its eastern waters, but the second missile’s flight distance was too short to reach those waters. It said South Korea maintains a firm readiness to repel any provocations by North Korea in conjunctions with the military alliance with the United States. North Korea said the launch was successful, but South Korea dismissed the North’s claim as deception to cover up a failed launch. Meanwhile, North Korea opened a key ruling party meeting Friday to determine what it called “important, immediate issues” related to works to further enhance Korean-style socialism.

North Korea on Monday launched two ballistic missiles, South Korea's military confirmed -- the latest in a series of weapons tests by Pyongyang that have soured relations with Seoul. Last week, North Korea claimed to have successfully tested a multiple warhead missile, but the South said that launch ended in a mid-air explosion. In response to the North's repeated launches, South Korea has fully suspended a tension-reducing military treaty. South Korea also has grown anxious over the North's warming relations with its isolated neighbour Russia. On Sunday, Pyongyang condemned joint military drills by South Korea, Japan and the United States, calling them an "Asian version of NATO" and warning of "fatal consequences".
