Six put on remand in metro rail station vandalizing case
DHAKA, July 26, 2024 (BSS) - A court here has placed six people including a journalist on a five-day remand each in a case lodged for vandalizing Kazipara Metro Rail Station in the capital's Mirpur. The six remanded accused are journalist Hafiz Al Asad alias Sayeed Khan, Sanaul Haque Niru, Alamgir, Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan alias Nayeem, Abdul Aziz Sultan and Mayeen. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arobia Khanam passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand each. According to the case documents, a mob of five to six thousand people ransacked Kazipara Metro Rail Station from 4 pm to 7.30 pm on July 19. They plundered expensive equipment and broke all the glasses, screens, and ticket vending machines, among other things.

Nebraska bar favors retaining area judges
The Nebraska State Bar Association released the 2024 Judicial Performance Evaluation on Friday recommending retaining 99% of the 142 judges it reviewed. In Gage County, association members voted in favor of retaining both District Court Judge Rick Schreiner (72.22% yes votes) and County Court Judge Jeffrey Gaertig (89.29%). Association members also voted in favor of retaining Schreiner's fellow District Court 1 Judges David Bargen in Wilber and Julie Smith in Tecumseh. They did the same with Gaertig's fellow judges in County Court 1, Linda Bauer in Fairbury and Richard Smith in Auburn. Gaertig and Bauer are the only area judges facing retention votes this year.

I wanted to be able to share it.”Walbrecht said being able to share this experience with youths with disabilities has made her fall back in love with agriculture and puts everything back in perspective. “This is the second year that I’ve been able to judge in Gage County, and I was hoping I would be able to experience this again,” he said. “Being able to come out and not let the heat effect you like it could have … that in itself speaks a testament about the people of Gage County and surrounding area. I was incredibly impressed.”The dairy show, dairy goat show, stocker feeder show and the sheep show all took place Thursday at the Gage County Fair.

Train ticket refunds in progress as services remain disrupted after protests
Bangladesh Railway has begun refunding ticket prices after trains were halted during recent student protests for government job quota reforms. Train services were disrupted on Jul 16 when railway tracks were obstructed in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Feni, Mymensingh, and Rangpur due to protests over government job quotas. Although train operations were somewhat normal on Jul 17, a ‘complete shutdown’ on Jul 18 halted services nationwide. Train services have been suspended since Jul 19. The resumption of train services remains uncertain.

Neon Trees: ‘Habits’ - The Cornell Daily Sun
Despite this apparent mismatch between the lyrics and overall sound, it’s definitely one of Habits’s catchier songs. Habits reaches its lowest point with “Your Surrender,” which lacks both sonically and in meaning. I’ve always thought it was an underappreciated Neon Trees song. “Our War” begins with a spoken intro, which connects the song back to the theme of youth first introduced with the opening track. Neon Trees missed the mark with Habits because while they’ve thoroughly conquered the more generic pop-rock sound, they didn’t make me feel — not with their words nor with their instruments.
