By Duncan MiririNAIROBI, May 1 (Reuters) - Ethiopian Airlines expects to carry 30% more passengers in the year ended June from the year before, its chief executive told Reuters on Wednesday, buoyed by new routes and a rebound in global travel. For example, today we have aircraft shortage since the manufacturers, particularly Boeing, are delaying aircraft deliveries," he said. The delivery problems mainly affect narrow-body passenger jets from Boeing, he said, while the grounding is affecting wide-body aircraft used for long-haul travel. Ethiopian is operating a fleet of 146 Boeing, Airbus and De Havilland planes, below the ideal level of 150, Mesfin said, due to the delivery delays. The growth plan is expected to boost annual revenue and passenger numbers by 400% and 440% respectively by the target year.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday approved about $1.3 billion as a Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) Arrangement for Côte d’Ivoire. Côte d’Ivoire is highly exposed to climate change through rising temperatures and sea levels as well as rain pattern changes. Economic vulnerabilities to climate change are mostly due to the country’s heavy reliance on agriculture, and the concentration of industrial and services activity in coastal areas. The country has identified priority mitigation and adaptation policies to increase climate resilience in its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). The strong collaboration with development partners should ensure complementarity of all actors’ programs to support the country’s reform agenda.
