Libya: Smugglers’ Abuse Of Egyptian Migrants, Including Children, Calls For Cooperation To Combat Human TraffickingGeneva – The discovery of 287 Egyptian migrants, including more than 90 children, held in a warehouse in eastern Libya should underscore the importance of combating smuggling and human trafficking networks, as well as raise social awareness of the dangers of exploitative migration routes and this type of persecution, Euro-Med Monitor said in a statement. Euro-Med Monitor reviewed shocking testimonies of a large number of migrants who were detained inside the warehouse. The migrants, particularly the children, complained about the inhumane treatment they received inside the warehouse, where they suffered various forms of abuse at the hands of the smugglers. In December 2021, Euro-Med Monitor published a detailed report documenting the grave violations migrants and asylum seekers face in Libya. Libyan authorities must intensify efforts to combat human trafficking and smuggling gangs, provide aid and assistance to migrants who have been victims of such criminal acts, improve official migrant detention facilities, and end all illegal practices against migrants.

Before you have politics, you need a political community, a group of people who see their lives as belonging to the same past, present, and future. Perhaps because of the trauma of the past, Libya today is ignoring its history. We can see the next stage of the Libyan revolution as rediscovering Libyan history and reclaiming the history that Qaddafi stole from us. In Libya “The Dead” have been awakened. As Harry Halem’s book makes definitively clear, the story of the Senussi family is indeed the history of Libya.

The three accounts at Bank of Valletta were held in the name of Capital Resources, a company owned by Muatassim Gaddafi, under the name Muatasimbllah Muammar Abuminyar. In a recently-filed reply to that appeal application, lawyer Shazoo Ghaznavi, appointed as special representative of the Libyan State, tackled the grounds for the widow’s appeal. The cash was used to fund Muatassim Gaddafi’s playboy lifestyle, with millions held in his various American Express and Visa credit card accounts. Safia Farkash’s lawyer, Charilos ‘Harris’ Oikonomopoulos, claimed that Muatassim Gaddafi had another heir: his hitherto unknown wife and Dutch model Lisa van Goinga and her son. “These funds were private funds, having nothing to do with the Libyan state.”Oikonomopoulos was assisted by lawyer Louis Cassar Pullicino.

He would teach chemistry at the International School in Benghazi as Anita cared for their infant son, Hosea, and made cross-cultural friendships. Anita extended forgiveness to the murderers just days later in interviews widely broadcast in Arabic in the country where the faith of most encourages retribution over forgiveness. “Something that was very apparent was what do we want the Libyan people to see or know out of this. And I know I won’t have the answers, but a big part of it is obedience,” Anita said. I’m praying sometimes, not even knowing what words to use, but it’s just through tears, like wanting him back.
