Turkish naval forces hold training off Misurata coast
Turkish naval forces have held training on board the country’s frigate known as TCG GÖKSU, which operates off the coast of the Libyan city of Misurata, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry. “Within the scope of the Turkish Naval Task Group; for the peace and security of Libya, SAT Team trainings were held on our frigate TCG GÖKSU, which operates in the Libyan offshore,” the Turkish ministry tweeted on Tuesday.

Libya lifts force majeure on oil, gas exploration; calls on oil firms to return
Libya's Government of National Unity has lifted force majeure on oil and gas exploration activities in the OPEC member and called on international oil companies that have previous agreements to resume their operations amid an improvement in security. National Oil Corp. also called on IOCs that have oil and gas exploration, and production agreements with the state-owned company to lift the force majeure declared by them and resume their exploration activities in the North African producer. Output recoversLibya's oil production had recovered sharply in recent months, averaging as high as 1.261 million b/d as of Nov. 17, NOC said. NOC said crude and condensate output averaged 1.207 million b/d and 54,000 b/d respectively as of Nov. 17. Libya holds the largest crude reserves in Africa and exports mainly light sweet crude grades such as Brega, Es Sider and Sharara.

Former prisons boss entitled to €100,000 in Libya envoy post
Former prisons director Colonel Alex Dalli is entitled to €100,000 while serving as an envoy to Libya after he resigned last year following a string of suicides at Corradino Correctional Facility. He was also entitled to a communication allowance of €1,800 per annum and an expense allowance of €300 per annum. The contract agreement was signed on 27 December 2021 and remains valid for a period of one year. His contract states that he will be posted in Tripoli to “coordinate on all matters as per Agreement between Malta and Libya dated 28/05/2020”. Dalli suspended himself as prisons director after an inmate was found dead inside his prison cell at the Corradino Correctional Facility.

Al-Nuwairi discusses with Al-Sour combating corruption
The Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, discussed Monday with the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, coordinating efforts between all authorities to combat corruption, including the role of the legislative authority through the control bodies of the HoR. 633 migrants rescued off Libyan coast in past week: IOM
Tripoli, Dec 6 (IANS) The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that 633 migrants were rescued off the coast of Libya and sent back to the North African country over the past week. "In the period of November 27 to December 3, 633 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya," Xinhua news agency quoted the IOM as saying in a statement on Monday. So far in 2022, a total of 21,457 migrants have been rescued and returned to Libya, including 1,089 women and 678 children, the UN body said. Also, a total of 517 illegal migrants died and 830 others went missing off the Libyan coast on the Central Mediterranean route so far this year, IOM added. In 2021, a total of 32,425 undocumented migrants were rescued and returned to Libya.

Body of one of two missing sons of Al-Yousifi family identified
The remains of a 27-year-old man from Tripoli who was kidnapped in November 2019 have been recovered and identified, the Association of Tarhuna Victims announced on Sunday. Ammar Muhammad Al-Yousifi, a father of a four-year-old from Ain Zara, was kidnapped with his brother from Tarhuna on November 2, 2019, by the nutritious Kani militia. Ammar Al-Yousifi was found in the mass graves of Tarhuna, the agricultural site 5K, on August 8, 2021, while the fate of his brother Khaled remains anonymous. The city, located some 65 km southeast of Tripoli, was Khalifa Haftar’s last stronghold in western Libya before his attack failed 14 months later. Many of the corpses discovered in the mass graves have shown evidence of torture, while some have been burnt and others buried alive, including women and children.

Libyan government lifts force majeure on oil exploration – invites international oil companies to resume implementing their contracts
The Tripoli-based Libyan government led by Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba announced today the lifting of the state of force majeure on exploration operations for the production of oil and gas. The government further called on international oil companies that have concluded contracts with the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to resume their work in Libya, stressing its readiness to provide the necessary support and provide them with a safe work environment. The Aldabaiba government said the lifting of force majeure on oil exploration is based on a request by the NOC and after a realistic assessment of the security situation in the country. It added that the security situation has improved a lot and has allowed for exploration in areas previously not possible. The government said that it has given instructions to all relevant parties to provide all the necessary cooperation to oil and gas exploration companies.

Haftar: Continuation of status quo in Tripoli may “push Libyans to take definitive decision”
General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar said in a speech on Monday “the continuation of the status quo in the capital Tripoli may push the Libyans to take a definitive decision.”“State institutions in the capital have turned into fragile entities submissive to armed groups,” Haftar streesed in his speech in the eastern city of Ajdabya. “The General Command made strenuous efforts to build a prosperous civil state in the interest of the homeland and to establish lasting peace and reconciliation among the brotherly Libyans,“ he added. “Today, we see those clinging to power and obstructing the democratic path who do not belong to the military establishment,” according to LNA Commander. “If the military wanted to overthrow the democratic path, no force would have been able to stand in their way,” Haftar pointed out. He stressed thar the position of LNA forces “will only be support and protection for the Libyans.”LNA Commander called for “reconciliation, tolerance, security and stability” in Libya.

Libya Allows Geological Exploration Of Oil Deposits

In October, the NOC said it had signed agreements with Italian Eni and British BP on offshore gas exploration. According to the company, the country's gas deposits exceed 80 million cubic meters of gas. In July, the NOC announced that it was restoring oil exports after the removal of emergency measures and appointment of a new director. The prime minister, Fathi Bashagha, said that the corporation planned to increase oil production to two million barrels per day over the next three-five years.
