CBN: The origins of ‘girl power’
CBNers, always: Carrie Ann (second from left) with her classmates on their last day of school in 2018. Indeed, CBN provided a platform for us to shine, and the teachers were all supportive of us. Even to this day, memories of the hours of practice always make me smile. It was at CBN where I met teachers who would stay back until the late evenings just to conduct extra classes. The CBN community came from various backgrounds but we gathered as one during school carnivals, Merdeka celebrations and morning assemblies.

Alumnae walk down memory lane
“Convent Bukit Nanas (CBN) gave me the core foundation of what I stand for: ethics, principles, integrity and courage. It felt special not just because it was an elite school, but also because the primary school buildings had a lovely atmosphere. I am the president of the school’s alumnae today and it feels as if I have never left the place. I learnt to socialise with friends of different races and picked up many life skills from the teachers along the way. To date, I still remember my years and, of course, my friends from CBN.

Another muted Mother’s Day this year

Paediatrician strongly denies his voice is on viral audio clip warning of surge in Covid-19 cases
PETALING JAYA: A consultant paediatrician and neonatologist has come forward to say that it is not him on a viral audio clip claiming potential high rates of Covid-19 infections after Hari Raya. “The viral audio on Whatsapp is NOT me. News portal Malaysiakini had reported that the viral audio clip contained a prediction that Malaysia could reach a minimum of 10,000 new Covid-19 cases per day by the end of the month if Hari Raya visits were allowed. House visits during Hari Raya are limited to 15 people on the first day in areas under a movement control order. For conditional and recovery MCO areas, Hari Raya visits are allowed for the first three days of Syawal, with a limit of 20 and 25 people, respectively.
