“In fact, there is no difference between the detention cells of the Nigeria security agencies, particularly the DSS and Army cells, and the Nazi Gestapo detention camps during the second world war,” it said. The statement said in part, “These detention centres have turned into abattoirs, where detainees are killed and their organs harvested and sold to the highest bidder by the wicked security operatives. “Detention facilities of the various security agencies have become another abattoir where they slaughter human beings like cows. “It is a known rule that airports across the world are safe places for all law-abiding citizens. But Kenya allowed its international airport to serve as the abduction ground for the oppressive Nigerian government that kidnapped our leader, who travelled to Kenya with a British passport.”Copyright PUNCH.

Even when adjusted for foreign exchange differential, the full-year change would still be higher by, at least, 10 per cent. The change is expected to lead to a market-led exchange rate regime and a gradual easing of the market rigidity. Capital market players have described the new tax as a disincentive to investors, including foreigners. Today, many economists also consider the current official exchange rate as below the market rate. For the medium to long-term, the exchange rate cannot be stable if the market is not transparent and accountable.

National Oil Spill Detection Response Agency (NOSDRA) would on Sunday and Monday undertake an overflight surveillance of the Upkokiti oil fields to ascertain the status of the extinguished fire incident on the oil field. However, she maintained that the future air surveillance would continue, until whatever remnants of oil in the FPSO is evacuated and measures evolved to forestall a recurrence of such kind of incident. “While the cause of the fire incident is yet to be fully determined, the environment around the FPSO is only slightly covered by the sheen and emulsified oil. It was earlier reported that the approximate quantity of oil in the FPSO in the recent past was said to be a little less than 200 000 barrels. “NOSDRA will continue to give updates on this incident after each aerial surveillance scheduled for today and Monday,” Ikeazor assured.

The removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, was earlier scheduled to take effect from July 2022. Experts continue to express different views to the latest suspension of the removal of subsidy as prescribed in the recently passed Petroleum Industry Act 2021. They underscored the need for subsidy removal, the need to get local refineries working optimally and deregulate downstream segment of the petroleum industry, as clearly prescribed by the petroleum industry law. Dr Muda Yusuf, an economic expert, said that the capitulation on the subsidy removal did not come as a surprise; rather there were many odds against the move. “Meanwhile, attracting investment into the oil and gas space will be extremely difficult going forward,’’ the expert noted.

The Chief Executive Officer of Coleman Wires and Cables, Mr George Onafowokan, has the removal of petrol subsidy in Nigeria will boost investment in the nation’s oil and gas industry. He, however, said the short-term effects of the removal of petrol subsidy would increase the cost of living. “Fuel price going up by 100 per cent or more does not mean an instantaneous 100 per cent increase on everything. We don’t look at the private sector impact of that decision. We need to get away from government direction to driving our economy through private sector.

My agricultural science teacher told us that the botanical name of plantain is Musa paradisiaca. I will be discussing plantain peels today but permit me to quickly address some things. Rubbing plantain peel against your skin is one way to eliminate wrinkles due to its abilities to tighten and tone the skin. In a study titled, “Fermentation of Musa paradisiaca Peels to Produce Citric Acid,’’ by Monrroy et al, CA was successfully produced from M. paradisiaca peels. Thus, M. paradisiaca peels were concluded to be a promising low-cost fermentable substrate for obtaining high added-value products such as CA.
