Governor Ayade noted that that was the reason his administration established a world-class Teachers Continuous Training Institute, TCTI, in Biase, Central Senatorial District of the state. Ayade stated this at the Transcorp Hotel, Calabar, during a flag-off of the Southern Zone phase of the 2019 School-Based Management- School Improvement Programme (SBMC-SIP) Implementation. “We decided to set up a Teachers Continuous Training Institute which core responsibility is to teach teachers on the latest trends in their respective fields. The Judge said his surety must produce a Certificate of Occupancy of a property and not Right of Occupancy. He was however granted bail with conditions including a reasonable surety with landed property within the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja while such property must have a C of O. The defendant and his surety must deposit two recent passport photographs to the Court while Umejidike should submit his international passport. He was also given a bail bond of N2 million and one surety in the like sum. He pleaded that Justice Abubakar should vary the C of O with Right of Occupancy, a move opposed by prosecution lawyer, Celestine Odo.

Justice P.O Lifu of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has suspended the purported cancellation of NOV Oilfield Solution Limited and NOV Oil and Gas Services Limited’s permits by the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). The judge also restrained the Ministry and the Minister of Petroleum Resources from disturbing the operations of NOV Oil on the basis of the purported cancellation of its permits by the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources. On November 15, 2021, none of the three respondents appeared in court to show cause and there was no legal representation. The judge, thereafter, granted all the prayers of NOV Oil and reiterated the fact that the respondents were all given ample opportunity to show up in court to counter NOV’s motion but chose or elected to ignore or disregard the said directive of the Court. All the respondents namely, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Minister of Petroleum Resources and the Attorney General of the Federation have, however, been served with all the Enrolled Order of the Court.

A professor of virology, Oyewale Tomori, on Monday took a swipe on the Federal Government for the travel ban imposed on Nigeria by Canada and the United Kingdom. Tomori said this at the national COVID-19 summit organised by the presidential steering committee (PSC), saying the ban came because the Federal Government “condoned errors of commission”. Following the reported cases of Omicron COVID variant, Canada and UK issued travel bans on South Africa and other African countries, including Nigeria. Chairman of PSC and Secretary to the Goverment of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, however, lamented that with the emergence of Omicron, Nigeria, like some other countries have become targets of restrictive measures. He contended that if the government succeeds in the plan, the impact of the price hike will affect every Nigerians, motorists, households, transporters, and others. According to him, “The concept of accepting deregulation hook line and sinker anchored on import driven price model is not something that we can accept. We are the only country trying to adopt this IMF imposed model of deregulation on the basis of import driven price mechanism. Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK has described the Britain’s decision to put the West African country on its red list as a “travel apartheid”. Britain added Nigeria to its travel red list and will enforce stricter entry rules starting Monday, over concerns of the spread of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. All travellers from Nigeria to Britain will also have to quarantine on arrival in hotels for 10 days regardless of vaccination status.
