World Health Organisation (WHO) on Friday urged countries not to panic but to prepare for the likely spread of COVID-19 Omicron variant as scientists continue to study it. Tension as police injure driver, shoot dead rig operator in Osogbo
There was pandemonium in the Ota Efun area of Osogbo, Osun State on Friday following the alleged killing of a rig operator, Kabir Bapai, by a policeman. “The policemen were talking to the driver, when one of them suddenly started slapping the man and shot him on the hand. The gunshot and the noise drew the attention of Bapai, the operator, who was busy fixing the faulty truck. The incident immediately sparked a violent protest as many residents descended on one of the three policemen, while his colleagues fled. The corpse was later deposited at the morgue of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

I understand biology but it’s a different ball game when the biology is happening inside your body. The living world is so complicated and messy that you can never really understand until you are on the spot. During my undergraduate studies, I stayed on campus and my elder sister who had completed her undergraduate studies at that time was living alone with our parents. I remember she complained to me of how stressful it was being alone with them, Well, I couldn’t really understand how much stress it was until I completed my undergraduate studies too.

Nigeria’s debt to China, France, three others hits $4.26bn
Nigeria’s debt to China, France, Japan, India and Germany rose to $4.26bn as of June 30, 2021 from $3.85bn at the end of 2019, according to data obtained from the Debt Management Office. The bilateral loans accounted for 13.89 per cent of the country’s total external debt of $27.67bn as of the first quarter of 2020. The bilateral loans increased by $110m to $3.95bn on June 30, 2020, accounting for 12.54 per cent of the total external debt of $31.48bn. The debt owed to the five countries rose by $130m in Q3 to $4.08bn on September 30, 2020, making up 12.74 per cent of the total external debt of $31.99bn. Nigeria’s total indebtedness to these countries fell slightly by $2m to $4.06bn at the end of 2020, accounting for 12.17 per cent of the total external debt of $33.35bn as of December 2020.
