LUCENA CITY – Independent senatorial aspirant Alan Peter Cayetano wished the best for President Rodrigo Duterte should the country’s Chief Executive join the senatorial race in the coming elections. “Whatever his (Duterte) decision is, I wish him the best,” Cayetano told journalists at the Quezon Convention Center here Saturday noontime. Alfonso Cusi, who heads a faction of the ruling party PDP-Laban, declared that they are convincing Duterte to run for senator in the 2022 elections. Cusi’s PDP-Laban wing originally wanted Duterte to run for vice president with his long-time assistant, Sen. Bong Go, as president. On Friday, Malacañang confirmed that Duterte is “considering” his allies’ calls for him to run for senator in the 2022 elections.

Mice in Tsz Wan Shan gather outside frozen meat shop for a feast
A group of mice gathered outside a frozen meat store in Tsz Wan Shan and enjoyed a feast – tasting frozen chickens placed in the baskets that were left on the street overnight. The frozen chickens were placed in the baskets in front of the door of the frozen meat store. Yet around 10 mice could be spotted on top of the baskets and tasting the chickens as if they were having a feast. The shop later apologized on social media and said all the frozen chickens involved in the incident have disposed of. They added transport workers usually just place the frozen meat on the street and leave it there overnight until the shop collects the meat when it opens in the morning.

Man in Wan Chai kills himself and leaves suicide note
A 32-year-old man killed himself in front of the police and left a suicide note in Wan Chai on Friday night. He was later found by officers at the junction between Gloucester Road and Marsh Road in Wan Chai. Officers also found a suicide note at the scene. Of what use is a magna carta if it's not for the intended beneficiary?
The guy, who I can only vaguely recall now, was supposed to speak on behalf of all Filipino seamen. The measure aims to champion the cause of Filipino seamen comprising one-fourth of the 1.6 million world total of seafarers. How can a Philippine legislation be enforceable upon the foreign owners of the vessels Filipino seamen are employed in? We just might end up having a magna carta that the Filipino seafarers cannot really rely on where protecting themselves in their relations with foreign employers is concerned. Already, the Philippine Coastwise Shipping Association (PCSA) has announced its intention to stop accepting apprentices once the magna carta bill becomes a law.
