"The evidence relied upon by the panel does not establish probable cause that respondent-appellant was in possession of the subject drugs," he said. "Contrary to its foregoing findings, the evidence indicates that respondent-appellant cannot be in constructive possession of the subject drugs." Ongpin explained that the panel was not even incisive enough to notice that the drugs were not among the things recovered from him. "Further, a closer look at the SOCO's picture[s] shows that there is a Philippine passport among the items recovered with the subject drugs." In view of these lapses, Ongpin asked the DoJ to reverse and set aside the ruling of his drug case and dismiss it.

AFP PHOTOBORDEAUX: Neymar suggested that speculation about his decline was premature with two sharply taken first-half goals on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) hung on to win 3-2 at Bordeaux in Ligue 1. For his first goal, Neymar collected a floated pass on the left of the penalty box, stepped inside and unleashed a shot between two defenders inside the post. Mbappe added a third in the 63rd minute after PSG caught Bordeaux's defense high up the field. The brilliance of the two stars seemed to have settled the match, but Bordeaux hit back. Two minutes into added time, M'Baye Niang finished off a pacy attack, scooping home his first goal for Bordeaux after a sharp exchange with Jimmy Briand in the box.

Britain will start to roll out Merck's molnupiravir Covid-19 antiviral pill through a drug trial later this month, Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Adviser at the UK Health Security Agency said on Sunday. Last week Britain became the first country in the world to approve the potentially game-changing Covid-19 antiviral pill, jointly developed by U.S.-based Merck & Co Inc and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. The government said in October it had secured 480,000 courses of the Merck drug, as well as 250,000 courses of an antiviral pill developed by Pfizer Inc. Asked about the molnupiravir approval, Hopkins told BBC television: "That is great news and it will start to be rolled out through a drug trial in the end of this month/the beginning of December." "The new Pfizer drug is probably not going to be licensed until the new year some time," she added.

ADVERTISEMENTBig carriers including Air France, United Airlines and Singapore Airlines are scrambling to meet the sudden surge in demand, adding flights, swapping in bigger planes for smaller ones and redoubling efforts to hire and retain staff. At United Airlines, traffic to Latin America has fully returned to its level from 2019, but the rest of international travel remains at only about 63 percent. Burkett Huey, an analyst at Morningstar, said airlines should have enough planes to meet rising demand. Still unclear is the timetable for a robust recovery in business travel, an unknown that affects airline planning. But if business travelers are late to come back, airlines could decide to plan more direct flights using the newer narrow body jets with longer range.

China's weather agency issued the winter's first snowstorm orange alert, the second-highest level, on Sunday while nationwide cold wave alarms fuelled concerns over traffic disruptions and flu outbreaks amid rising Covid-19 cases. The National Meteorological Centre forecast blizzards in northeastern China, with some regions getting 45 millimetres (1.8 inches) of snow over 24 hours and heavy snow across the northern part of the country. A cold snap is also sweeping from Beijing to Shanghai to Guangzhou, pushing down temperatures by as much as 14 degrees (25 degrees Fahrenheit) Celsius on Sunday, the weather agency said. The cold wave, which could increase the risk of flu, comes just as more than 20 cities in northern China reported COVID-19 cases and sporadic outbreaks in the southwestern - in Chongqing and the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan, since mid-October. Snow piling up in communities under COVID-19 lockdowns may not be moved outside the control zones, the local government-backed Beijing Daily reported.

GLASGOW — For more than two decades, promoters and purveyors of nuclear energy felt shunned at UN climate change conferences. But as the climate crisis deepens and the need to transition away from fossil fuels becomes urgent, attitudes may be shifting. “Nuclear energy is part of the solution to global warming, there’s no way around it,” said Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in an interview. “The winds are changing.”To have even a 50/50 chance of capping global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels — the threshold for dangerous tipping points that could trigger runaway warming — global greenhouse emissions must be slashed by almost half within a decade, scientists say. “Nuclear energy goes on and on for the entire year, it never stops,” he said.

Technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are combined in the metaverse to create a sense of "virtual presence." In 2018, I attended a Facebook event called "Oculus VR Series: Art Immersive" at the Menlo Park. While I enjoy this part of the metaverse, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that this company has not resolved Facebook as a platform for disinformation. Nothing in Zuckerberg's keynote talked about how the future of Facebook will fit in the metaverse. Facebook can still fit in the metaverse by going back to its roots.
