Meta: Facebook's high-stakes bet to save itselfSocial media giant Facebook said it has taken down 67 Facebook pages, 68 Facebook accounts, 40 groups and 25 Instagram accounts for engaging in "coordinated inauthentic behavior." WASHINGTON — Facebook's name change offers a convenient diversion as scandal plagues the platform, but the new handle is also key to the firm's costly effort to save itself from very real threats, experts said. Jokes and vitriol poured in after CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the new corporate handle "Meta," with critics blasting it as a transparent effort to distract from its whistleblower crisis. The metaverse Zuckerberg strolled through in Thursday's promotional pitch was a friendly place of connection and did not evoke the angry political fights or anti-vaccine misinformation that discolors social media. "Where it will fail or succeed is going to be about what they are tangibly going to change," he added.

GLASGOW/BOSTON — Britain and India introduced a plan on Tuesday to improve connections between the world’s electricity power grids to accelerate the transition to greener energy. Linking the grids would allow parts of the world with excess renewable power to send it to areas with deficits. For instance, countries where the sun has set could draw power from others still able to generate solar electricity. Although powerline technology has improved in recent years, Wald and others said the plan would require spending large sums. The grids plan showed Modi willing to move the world’s second-most populous nation away from fossil fuels as long as developed countries help, said Julie Gorte, senior vice president for sustainable investing at Impax Asset Management.

Thinking out of the box, they uniquely curated an "Invisible Event" and gave a full sensorial experience of its products, literally returning to a box of pre-delivered surprises that could only be opened as the virtual launch progressed.
