With Western weapons deliveries limited and slow, Ukraine is facing a bleak winter. Russia, meanwhile, is planning to increase military spending by one-quarter next year, signaling its long-term commitment to overpowering its smaller neighbor. The Biden administration, which has drip-fed weapons to Ukraine for fear of provoking Russia, has given a tepid response. Without more support for Ukraine, Podolyak said, the war could drag on for years and end up eroding Western nations’ global standing. Ukraine also has launched a series of long-range strikes in Russia and occupied Ukraine, destroying ammunition and fuel stores.

Dealer lots are full of unsold EVs, and car companies—largely led by Tesla—have slashed prices on new models in an effort to sell them. The sharp decline in prices of used EVs could potentially broaden their appeal to budget-conscious buyers, analysts say. “The biggest competition for one- or two-year-old used vehicles is across the lot. Dave Katarski, operations chief for Feldman Automotive Group, a large dealer group in Michigan, said his stores have been selling more than 200 used electric cars a month, a significant increase from a year ago. While helping to alleviate inventory buildups now, it is likely to result in a flood of gently used EVs returning to the market in two to three years.

Third-quarter GDP growth is forecast to have risen 4.0% on year, and 2.0% on a quarter-on-quarter, seasonally adjusted basis, according to the WSJ poll. "With services inflation still elevated, the conditions are not in place for monetary policy easing," ANZ head of Asia research Khoon Goh said. Preliminary GDP data showing strong growth would also back the case to not start easing yet, Goh said. ANZ economists expect the RBI to watch how food prices develop before it moves to cut the policy rate, which they pencil in for December. HSBC economists expect 25-basis-point cuts from BSP in both October and December, considering the door to easing "wide open."

He is unwilling to do a “60 Minutes” interview, like every other major-party candidate has done for more than half a century. Here’s the thing. It makes you wonder why does his staff want him to hide away?
