The foreign affairs minister was speaking on December 31, 2025, at the commissioning of a Passport Application Centre in the Savannah Region. He noted that additional security measures have been deployed, particularly at the borders, to monitor and prevent foreigners from infiltrating areas such as Damongo to illegally acquire passports. As part of the commissioning ceremony, seven applicants received their passports directly from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his delegation.

On the Bank of Ghana’s market, the buying rate stood at GH¢10.4448 and the selling rate at GH¢10.4552, signalling continued stability in the early days of 2026. On the forex bureau market, the cedi traded stronger, with a buying rate of GH¢11.85 and a selling rate of GH¢12.35 to the dollar.
